Marietta Southern Cremations & Funerals
On Friday, September 23, 2022, William Cecil (Bill) Hunt, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, left earth to join his family in heaven. He was 89 years old.
After graduating from Auburn University in 1956, Bill worked for Lockheed for more than 40 years. He was the senior design engineer on some of the most iconic airplanes including the C-130, C-5, and C-141.
He met the love of his life, Mimi, at a Red Cross Christmas party in 1965. Three months later, they were married. They spent their first year in England while he worked for Lockheed. They raised two children, Julie and Gary.
Bill found joy in many things such as history, nature, gardening, bonsai, wildflowers, bluegrass music, Dad jokes, and fixing things. He was also a talented woodworker and carver. But his greatest joy was always his family, especially spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Bill is preceded in death by his father, Eldrid, mother, Annie Lou, brother, Howard, and sisters, Faye and Martha. He is survived by his wife Miriam (Mimi); children, Julie and Gary; son-in-law, Ted; grandchildren, Crystal, Ellia, Chelsie, and Soren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 1 from 2-5pm at Southern Cremations & Funerals Marietta. A funeral service in Bill’s honor will be held on Saturday, October 15th at 2:30pm at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Dunwoody, followed by a reception in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to St. Patrick’s.
