Bertha R. Turner

March 3, 1940 ~ October 25, 2022

Bertha R. Turner, 82 of Fairburn, GA and wife of Roosevelt Turner, passed away on October 25, 2022. "Bertha Ruth Collier, affectionately known as "Tot", was born in Sparta, Georgia on March 3, 1940 to the late Ervin and Ruth Collier, the second of eight children. Their humble beginnings in Apex, North Carolina shaped her into the resilient and nurturing woman that we would all come to love. The family relocated to Elizabeth City, North Carolina in 1957, where she would meet the love of her life, Roosevelt Turner also known as "Buddy". They married on September 14th, 1958 and settled in Long Island, New York, making it home to raise their four children, before moving to Georgia in 2005. During these years, she became known as an impeccable homemaker, raising a village far beyond her own four children. In 1977, after years of diligently following and studying the teachings of Jesus Christ, she made a public declaration of her vow to Jehovah and became a baptized Jehovah's Witness. She faithfully upheld that vow and shared bible truths with her children, grandchildren, family and friends until she fell asleep in death. Tot was preceded in death by her parents; Ervin and Ruth Collier; her siblings, James Collier (Rosa), Dannie Hillman, Johnnie Frank Collier, and Carther Collier; her nephews, Walter Bender Jr., David McCall, and Ray Lee Hillman; and her nieces, Janice Marie Collier, and Davida Collier. Buddy and Tot’s prolific union spanned 64 years and was the foundation of a lineage consisting of three generations. She leaves to mourn; her loving husband, Roosevelt Turner; son Velt Turner (Pam): grandchildren Toneille (Victor), Veltasha (Ronnie), and Jontue; daughter Sylvia Downing (Arthur): grandchildren Velika, Shanetha, Capris’, and Karess; daughter Sharon Turner: grandchildren Davin and Sheriden; son Gregory Turner (Angela): grandchildren Kolby, Rasheedah, Brianna, Aysia, Kendall, Kelsey, and Kenadi; 15 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, three siblings; Annie Belle Collier, Lee Collier, Mamie Brewton (Charles), three sisters-in-law Karen Collier (whom she shared a special sisterhood with), Rebecca Evans, and Shirley Richardson(respectively), two cousins close to her heart, Mildred Boyd & Mary Andrews, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends." Memorial Services will be held at the chapel of Southern Cremations & Funerals at Holly Hill, 431 SW Broad St. Fairburn, GA 30213 on Friday November 4, 2022 at 12:00 PM. Services will be livestreamed. Please express your condolences here on our website. Services entrusted to Southern Cremations & Funerals at Holly Hill.
