Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I remember as a child when she used to allow children to come over from the neighborhood and she used to cook collards, cornbread & chicken and we used to eat sooo good lol

  2. Q: What will you never forget about Bettie?

A: Betty Gene Berry was a strong resilient spiritual woman that taught me how to have the same can-do make-do kind of attitude towards life. She will live on through me and others whom she raised to adulthood. She taught me things that other young girls like me were not taught such as (sewing, cooking, spirituality, and just how to act as a lady). I will forever cherish my childhood memories that she (Mama) and my grandfather (Daddy) made for my sister and I. I will pass down her recipes , faith in God and how to act like a true lady to my children. She lived a simple spiritual life and found so much happiness in the simple things. Her legacy is in the children she raised and the lives she touched with her wisdom and Kindness. I only hope to do the same when I leave here.

  3. Q: What will you never forget about Bettie?

A: I’ll never forget her love for simple things and how she expressed them. Like her love for flowers, she grew the most beautiful garden. The entire house was adorned in flowers and plants, people passing by would just stare and admire her work.
Her love for holidays, especially Christmas. Every year Christmas felt magical because that’s how it felt to her. Classic Christmas music, good food and a lavishly decorated house was a given every year. Or her love for painting and writing poetry. They were always just beautiful.
I’ll never forget the times I’d watch her paint or tend to her garden while I played outside. I’ll never forget how she took these simple things and made them feel larger than life. And most importantly, I’ll never forget the pure happiness it brought to the both of us.

  4. In loving memory of momma Berry who was a loving and caring woman to my friend. She was always encouraging no matter what the circumstance. I will forever remember that warm inviting smile. Love ya from Ms. Alston
