Jerry Claude Anderson passed away on November 30, 2022, at the age of 86. He was predeceased by his father, Claude Anderson, and his mother, Clarice Hatcher Anderson. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jean Cooper Anderson; daughter, Christi Anderson Hutto (Brian); son, John Claude Anderson; grandchildren Cooper Lloyd Hutto, Audrey Christine Hutto, Avery Claire Hutto, and John Chace Anderson; brother, John Scott Anderson (Jane); and nieces, Susan Anderson Gage (Scott), and Jennifer Anderson Tinneny (Matt).
Jerry was born in Griffin, GA, on July 4, 1936. His family also lived in Cherry Point, NC, and then moved to East Point, GA, when he was in junior high school. He played football at Russell High School, and also in Aiken, SC, upon moving there his junior year. He graduated from Aiken High School in 1954, and began college at the Georgia Institute of Technology that fall. Jerry graduated from Georgia Tech in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management. During college, he participated in the Air National Guard and learned to fly airplanes, and played bongo drums in a jazz band. He worked in the textile business throughout his career, primarily as a marketing manager. He traveled extensively in the US and Europe with his work, and had a patent for an erosion control product.
Jerry has always loved fishing and golfing. He enjoyed fly fishing in the mountains of SC, as well as fishing from his boat or dock. He and Jean lived on Lake Hartwell in SC from 1992-2019, and he loved lake life. He taught Christi, John, and many of their friends to water ski over the years. Jerry was an avid golfer for most of his life. Upon retirement, he played several times a week for many years. He was very proud of the three “hole in ones” that he achieved during his lifetime! He was definitely a family man. He loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Jerry was a great storyteller, a lover of good food and drink, and a fan of jazz music. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He will be greatly missed and remembered for his outgoing, positive personality.

Q: What will you never forget about Jerry?
A: Uncle Jerry was kind, soft spoken and an excellent listener. He took time for me, when I was in college as he traveled for his job. He was a great water skier, and I loved spending Summers at Chickasaw Point with my grandmother (his Mom), and he would take us out in the boat. He played a mean game of 9 ball, listened to great jazz, smoked a pipe and swung a golf club constantly. He loved me, I am positive and I will remember him always.
