Patricia Darlene Thomas, Darlene to all that knew and loved her, passed away on December 29, 2022 at the age of 79 in Dallas, Georgia. Born June 16, 1943 in Columbus, Georgia, Darlene was the eldest of 5 children born to Julia Juanita Fuller, also of Columbus. She was married to the love of her life William “Bill” Thomas in 1959 and celebrated 63 years of marriage prior to her passing.
Darlene was preceded in death by her son William S. Thomas, Jr. of Phenix City, Alabama, her grandson Lane R. Jordan of Dallas, Georgia, her sister Lenora Westberry of LaGrange, Georgia, and her brother Lorrell Reed of Columbus, Georgia. She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Thomas of Phenix City, Alabama, daughters Lisa Testa and Cindy Jordan-Ford of Dallas, Georgia, brother Larry Love of Salem, Alabama, sister Nonnie Wells of LaGrange, Georgia, grandchildren Shaun Testa of Bow, New Hampshire, Shannon Testa of Bow, New Hampshire, Landon R. Jordan of Kennesaw, Georgia, six great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Darlene was an exceptional wife and mother, raising children with help from close family as well and working and going to school while her husband was deployed several years early in their marriage. She managed to work and earn a business degree during this same timeframe. Throughout her life she was very active, spending time with her husband, family and grand-children.
Throughout her life, Darlene worked in many areas, mainly on military bases where her husband William was stationed. The largest part of her career was spent in the area of government procurement at Fort Benning, Georgia.
Darlene and her husband relocated to Dallas, Georgia from Phenix City in July of 2021 to live with their daughters and be closer to family. The family is so grateful to have spent the last 18 months of her life together.
A reception will be held at her home in Dallas, Georgia on January 14 at 2 pm. For those who wish to send an expression of sympathy, the family has asked that a donation be made to your local Pet Shelter or Humane Society.
