Charles LeRoy Droege

Charles LeRoy "Pete" Droege, age 84 of Powder Springs, Georgia passed away peacefully on January 26, 2023. He was born to Charles Robert Droege and Florence Mae Droege in Newport, Kentucky on June 8, 1938. Pete was a young athlete, enjoying basketball and breaking many high school records in track and field, later was inducted into the Newport Highschool Hall of Fame. After graduating from high school, he served in the United States Army Reserves and also attend Northern Kentucky University. He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Donna Schneider and was married on May 7, 1960. He and Donna raised their family on the farm of rolling hills of Cold Springs, Kentucky. There he was a member of Trinity Mason Lodge, and dedicated employee at Cincinnati Bell. After 35 years of service, he retired to enjoy life on the farm, and continue his passion of showing and racing horses. In 2009 he moved to Powder Springs, Georgia to be closer to family. Pete loved spending time with his family, following his favorite sports teams, and horse races. As a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Pete is survived by his wife Donna Louise Droege; sons, Todd Lee and Timothy Roy Droege; daughter in-laws, Susan and Wanda Droege; and grandsons, Charles Hudson and James Garrett Droege. Pete was a kind and selfless man whose influence will be forever felt by his friends and family who love him deeply. He will be laid to rest at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia at a later date. Anyone who wishes to honor Pete Droege is requested to contribute to missionteaminc.org, to benefit Cobb County Special Police Forces.
