Carmelo Laboy

June 22, 1940 ~ February 18, 2023

Carmelo Laboy, age 82, passed away on Saturday, February 18th, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Dorothy Laboy. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Barbara Ann Laboy. He will be deeply missed and remembered by his sons, Carmelo “Junior” Laboy and Derby Fisher and his daughters Iris Cox, Teresa Tucker, and Maleda Kimbrough along with several doting siblings and many adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was born on June 22nd, 1940 in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico. He was a longtime resident of Marietta, Georgia. He had many passions in life including: cultivating and tending to large vegetable gardens, rescuing and taking great care of several dogs and cats, spending quality time with his large, extended family, and cooking delicious food enjoyed by everyone. His family writes: It will never be lost on us just how lucky we all were to have known, loved, and been loved by someone who made saying goodbye so difficult. His life was truly a blessing to us all and our memories of him will always be treasured. He is loved eternally and beyond words and will be missed forever beyond measure. We give our most heartfelt thanks to Southern Cremations and Funerals for helping us in honoring Carmelo’s wishes of having no formal memorial service but rather a private family gathering to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local animal shelter in honor of Carmelo Laboy.

  1. Q: What will you never forget about Carmelo?

A: Cowboy was the best father in law, cook and gardener. How could I ever forget this man? Anyone who met him loved him. He was so funny-always calling me a damn yankee and cutting up with him. I hope you are dancing with the angels. You will be missed my many. Thank you for loving me and always being there for my kiddos. You were a great pawpaw to Nathan and Chelsea. Love you always,
    Vickie
