Caroline Humphries Gnann Carpenter, 67, passed away on January 28, 2023. Born on September 2, 1955, in Savannah, GA, she was the daughter of the late Jane Lawhon Humphries and James Edward Humphries. She was predeceased in death by her former husband John Gnann and husband Melvin Carpenter.
Caroline was an avid reader and writer. Many will remember her columns in the Effingham Herald and Savannah Morning News where she wrote funny and heartfelt articles about slices of life and being a proud, loving mother to her two boys. She was an advocate for victims of child abuse, mental health support, and used her columns as a voice for people within her community.
Surviving are her two children, Matthew Gnann (Kelly) and Nicholas Gnann (Veronica); three grandchildren, Cora, Eliza, and Alexander; siblings Julie Vann (Scott), David Humphries (Joni), Susan Bresnihan, Mark Humphries (Dana), Tim Humphries (Melissa); two stepsons, Steve and Edward Carpenter (Kelly); and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Caroline's life will be held at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park in Savannah on March 25 at 11:00 AM.

I have such wonderful memories of visiting Savannah and spending time with Carrie and my other cousins and family over the years. She had a beautiful smile and a contagious laugh.
