Gavin Greene

December 7, 1964 ~ March 10, 2023

Monday, December 7, 1964. The world welcomed a brown- eyed, dimpled little boy. Gavin Thomas Greene I. Fourth and Youngest son to A. Thomas Greene (deceased) and Dr. Eleta J Greene (deceased). On Friday, March 10th in the early hours of the morning our beloved Gavin earned his wings and was called Home. Gavin attended private school in New York. He excelled as a student. He scored a near perfect score on the SAT and graduated early at the age of 16. After graduating, Gavin followed in his father and uncles’ footsteps to become a successful businessman & entrepreneur. Gavin soon married and became a father to his only daughter Brianna (Moo Moo). He continued to expand his business ventures and soon co-owned and operated a successful investment firm along with one of NYC’s most popular clubs the Golden Lady. While building his legacy he made the decision to leave his beloved Harlem and move his family to Atlanta, GA. After moving to Atlanta, his family expanded with the birth of his name sake, Gavin Thomas Greene II (MASH). God had a new path set for Gavin and on the evening of October 11, 1992, he met who he described as the love of his life, Artheia. From that night forward, Theia and Gavin remained inseparable. Gavin instantly became Pops to her son Taurian. (Tu). After years of change, growth, and love. Gavin married his soulmate Artheia. On many occasions you would’ve heard Gavin say she saved his life. “No matter what the people said”, their love was rare and beautiful. Theia was the true meaning of Ride or Die for Gavin. Soon after they married, they welcomed their fourth child Thomas Avery (Poppa Do)! Gavin spent hours and days talking and inspiring his children, nephews, and nieces. He was the cool Uncle to Obar, Anthony, Guy, Adair, Dorian, Christopher, Bria, Grant, Isaiah and Lael. He enjoyed traveling, playing pool and spending time with family. He loved Jazz & R&B. He couldn’t dance much but for his Love, his Babe, he’d work a mean two step staying in the box. His passion for cars and speed is carried on by his sons- Taurian, Gavin, and Thomas.Gavin often spoke of his love for family and loyalty. He truly was a man’s man. A gentleman and a scholar. Thanksgiving was a time of reflection for him. And amazingly the man who didn’t cook, brined, and fried the Turkey every year for the whole family. He even got on board with the tradition of matching pajamas for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Gavin had a big heart and if he trusted you, you became family. His circle was filled with men who are men of loyalty. These men include his brothers Wayne, Anthony, Guy , Gil (Gavin’s first son- his words), and William (Pep). Also, his cousins Roger, Roddie, Darryl, Randy, Tim, Torey, Mike H and Kevin. And last but not least, his closes confidants Eric, Rahman, and James (Doc). If you became a part of his circle, you no longer had a name, instead, you became his brother, Nephew, Junior, or Joker. Gavin’s love for his children has no end. The legacy and blueprint he left will guide and keep us. Gavin leaves to cherish his memory & continue his legacy his wife Artheia Elizabeth, his children William(pep), Taurian(Tu), Brianna( Moo-Moo), Gavin (Mash), and Thomas Avery( Do); his brothers, Wayne (Evangeline), Tony, Guy (Doc), Gilbert (wife), and sister Cheryl; Stepmother Bernice and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

  8. Q: What will you miss most about Gavin?

A: I will miss Gavin’s infectious laugh and ability to see the funny side of anything. He loved movies like “Dumb and Dumber” and any 3 Stooges shows and he made me laugh along with him just by watching how tickled he was at the antics. I love Gavin and I miss him already. Rest in Power my brother. 😘😘😘

  9. I was blessed to meet Gavin over 20 years ago through his beautiful wife Artheia. We had some great times. It was an honor to call him my brother because of the way he loves his wife and family. Admirable!!! I was blessed to be able to spend time with them 2 weeks before his transition and I am grateful for the conversations we had. I feel Gavin’s character was God’s way of showing me how a man is supposed to be. Loving, caring and loyal. May God continue to bless his legacy. God has certainly blessed me for bringing him into my life. What an awesome MAN!!!

  10. I am truly blessed to have been born to such an amazing father and a true mans man. My dad was my hero and the only man I looked up to. I will continue to make him proud and continue his legacy.

  11. You entered my life and it will never be the same! The love you showered on me and our children is and will always sustain me. I miss your smile, your touch, your smell, your laugh and the daily kiss to the forehead. I love Gavin Thomas Greene I.
