Fairburn Southern Cremations & Funerals
“Well done, good and faithful servant . . . enter into the joy of your master.” Just recently, on March 26, 2023, Pauline Elder Cargile heard those words, as she left us for her new home with the Lord our God. And those of us who she left behind can truly say, “Pauline had a life well-lived.”
Pauline began this life on July 2, 1928, in Marietta, Georgia. She was welcomed into this world by her parents, Clarence and Lelar Bruchshire-Prince, as their first-born. Over the years, she gained six sisters and one greatly outnumbered brother.
In her first career, Pauline worked as a designer and seamstress for Lovable Intimates, a job that she held for 13 years. But she found her true calling and true fulfillment when she completed beauty college in 1957. This move led to a long career as a hair stylist and, eventually, a shop manager. Pauline finally retired at age 71, after a 54-year career.
Pauline became the proud parent of a son Stuart Safarik, in 1952. Pauline’s mother and father, along with four of her sisters, preceded her in departing from this life. Those surviving include two of her sisters: Rilla Fortier of Douglasville, Georgia, and Edna Bright of Temple, Georgia. Her only brother, Claude Prince, who lives in Maryland, also survives her. In addition, Pauline has one grandson, four great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild (and one on the way), as well as numerous nieces and nephews, as she put it, “All over the place.”
Since she became a member in 1971, Pauline was quite active in First Baptist Church of Morrow, Georgia. She often worked in the church nursery, as well as with the Children’s Choir. Pauline also served faithfully as the Secretary of her Sunday School class. She devoted large amounts of time, effort and talent to the adult Choir and the Silvertones Ministry, where she served as Historian. Pauline could often be seen around the church bringing picture collections she had made for the bulletin boards.
Even with all of these activities, Pauline actually had some “spare time.” During this time, she enjoyed sewing, painting, and drawing. The beauty of her home testified to Pauline’s love of yard work, where she was often reported, “out standing in her field.” Pauline was also active in the Morrow Homemakers’ Club.
Though Pauline is now gone from us, we cannot say that her life is lost. Instead, her life is completed and fulfilled. While we may say, “There she goes; good-bye, Pauline,” others are at the same time saying, “Here she comes; welcome Pauline.”
In lieu of flowers, Pauline requested that donations be given to the First Baptist Church-Morrow Food Pantry.
A memorial service for Pauline Cargile will take place on Saturday, April 8, at First Baptist Church-Morrow, 11:00 am. The interment will be immediately following the service at the College Park Cemetery, 3600 Adams Street, College Park, GA, 30337. The Rev. Dr. Robert Ensign and the Rev. Teliea Harwell will officiate.

I spent many minutes with you when you fixed my hair. Later hours visiting you when you retired. Rest in peace with Jerry. Holly Davis
