Dean Curtis Lewin

August 22, 1950 ~ May 14, 2023

Dean Curtis Lewin, age 72, of Marietta, Georgia was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 14, 2023. Dean was born on August 22, 1950, in Saint Johnsbury, Vermont to Harland and Beverly (Gibson) Lewin. He graduated from Lyndon State College in Vermont in 1972 with a degree in History. In his early adulthood, Dean became a machine tool salesman and adopted two children with his, then wife, Karen (Belluscio) Lewin. In 1991, Dean moved his family to Arrington, Tennessee where he raised his family and resided until 2005. In his leisure time, Dean enjoyed fishing, golfing, boating, archery, cycling and reading Tom Clancy novels. He frequented the shooting range and loved discussing his collection of unique and antique firearms. He made many friends through his hobbies. He was an avid history buff and loved to talk about his family lineage, the Revolutionary War, and key battles in history. In his childhood and teens, Dean played baseball. He enjoyed taking in a Braves game with his family, once he moved to Atlanta. His work life took him to Japan and all over the USA, famously bringing back, “the ugliest T-shirt in the store,” from a Greatful Dead shop in San Francisco. The tie dyed monstrosity was well loved and only rivaled by the “the second ugliest shirt,” that he returned for on his next trip to California. He loved listening to Bruce Springsteen, Joe Cocker, John Cougar Mellencamp and the Rolling Stones. His work connections helped him procure a unique mixed CD of Japanese music for his then teenage daughter to enjoy. In his later life he traveled to Hawaii on vacation and took in the beauty and history of the islands. He loved taking photographs of his travels and family events. He was a soft spoken, selfless man who was devoted to his children and grandchildren. Dean was preceded in death by his parents Harland and Beverly (Gibson) Lewin. Dean is survived by his two children Timothy Dean Lewin (Lauren) of Marietta, GA and Kelly Ann Gunther (William) of Murfreesboro, TN, as well as his five grandchildren Timothy Benton Lewin, Elise Marie Lewin, William Emil Gunther IV, Brody Harland Gunther, and Rowan James Gunther. Celebration of Life will be Sunday, June 11 at 2-4 pm at The Governors Gun Club in Kennesaw, 1005 Cobb Place Blvd.
