Almira "Sherri or Mira" Dunn passed away suddenly on June 7, 2023, at 60, in Atlanta, Georgia. Mira Dunn was born on January 19, 1963, in Kinston, North Carolina. She was the first child of Marva Grace and the late George Ervin Dunn, Sr. Mira spent her early years moving with her family due to her father's service in the Army. She attended elementary school in North Carolina and Nebraska before her family settled in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Mira was a talented athlete who played volleyball, basketball and ran track in junior high and high school. She was also the two-time state champion long jumper while attending Northrop High School. Mira pursued higher education at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. She returned to Fort Wayne for a few years and was an assistant basketball coach at Northrop. After a few years in her hometown, she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where she lived and worked for several years. Mira is survived by her wife, Helen (Atlanta); her mother, Marva; her siblings, George (Victoria) and Robin (Lateef); her niece Nailah; and her nephew Jibril. Mira was preceded in death by her father, George. She will be sorely missed by her extended family, friends, coworkers, and former teammates. 6. Mira,
Cuz, as you so affectionately loved to be addressed, this is the hardest thing I have had to do in a while. This is such a hard pill to swallow. It has taken me this long to write this because I didn’t want closure. From the time we started working together you always made me feel like I was family. You had this light that never dimmed. You always made me see the bright side even when I saw darkness. Thank you for always being there for me and everyone. Thanks for being a listening ear, a comforting shoulder and for being my cuz. I hope you know just how much you were loved and appreciated. I know I am not supposed to question God so I try to be accepting of his will. Your wings were ready but my hesrt wasn’t. Cuz, go ahead and take your much needed rest. I love you but God loves you best.
    Love you always and forever!!!

  7. Hey cuz,
Still in disbelief and have bad days when I see a Segway tour and you aren’t leading it. Miss you so much down here. See you in da streets of eternity when we meet again. Love you!!
