Dennis Alan Large

March 29, 1955 ~ July 3, 2023

William Shakespeare wrote, “make death proud to take us”. As a family we cannot think of a life death was prouder to take than Dennis Alan Large. Dennis had so many skills and talents it would be impossible to list them all. He had a passion for remodeling homes which showcased his skills in carpentry. Dennis could fix just about anything that was broken. He had a wonderful singing voice and loved playing the drums to his favorite bands. Dennis prided himself on being a teenager of the 1970’s. He loved to tell stories about how he got to see and hear all the best bands and had a blast. Dennis worked in the automotive industry for over 15 years. He never saw a classic car that he didn’t love. If he saw a classic car, he absolutely would insist on hearing how loud the engine could rev. The louder, the better! Dennis was a kind and giving soul. He opened his heart to all of those around him, and not just people! Dennis pampered and raised many family dogs over the years. Above all the things, skills, and hobbies that Dennis loved, he loved his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and grandsons Dylan and Dawson most of all. Dennis’ greatest accomplishment was raising his son Jeremy who brought his daughter-in-law and two amazing grandchildren into his life and made him feel complete. He cherished every minute we got to spend as a family. Dennis was preceded by his father and mother, Harold and Aline Large. Survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Arlene Large. Lovingly remember by his son, Jeremy (Kimberly) Large; and two grandsons Dylan and Dawson Large; brothers and sisters, Gary Large, Karen (Andy) Milner, Cindy (Lee) Nash, Bradley Large, Becky (Joel) Evans; brothers-in-law, Dwight (Athena) Fiedler, Harry (Emy) Fiedler; and many nieces and nephews. We are all proud to have known Dennis. He will be missed and in all our hearts forever. Please join us in a celebration of the life of Dennis Alan Large this Sunday, July 9th at 11:00 am at Southern Cremations and Funerals at Cheatham Hill.

  6. I remember my mom telling stories of my Grandpa Holcomb. She would say that you could find Grandpa by listening for his laugh. He laughed with his whole being! And my brother Dennis was the same. He loved to have a good time and his laugh was infectious. He loved his family big and was very loyal and protective. I know mom and dad came to get him to bring him home with his Lord.
