Todd Tucker appreciated this quote and strived to always make everyone he met feel important and special. Born on July 11, 1963, in Opelika, Alabama, Todd joined his brother, Scott, and sister, Shelley, as the beloved third child of Morton and Claire Irene Ziets Tucker. Todd began playing football in the sixth grade and played offensive tackle at Auburn High School before attending Auburn University. He enjoyed telling stories about his high school football days and the guys he played with for the rest of his life.
Todd began his career in insurance with Life Insurance Company of Georgia and spent the last twenty-four years at Munich RE Group, a multinational insurance company. Todd completed many insurance designations and ended his career as a Senior Group Underwriting Consultant. In 1992, he met his future wife, Kathy Floyd, on a blind date arranged by a mutual friend. Todd and Kathy were married at Isle of Hope, Georgia on August 11, 1995, and joyously welcomed their son, Adam Floyd Tucker, on April 21, 1999. Todd was very proud that Adam celebrated his bar mitzvah in April 2012 at Temple Emanu-El of Atlanta.
Todd’s talents were many and varied. He could fix anything around the house, enjoyed yard work and landscaping, and was an expert cook. His collection of cookbooks extended to the thousands, and he enjoyed creating cakes to illustrate whatever event in history Adam’s class in school was studying at the time. Todd loved an estate sale and was adept at finding kitchen equipment, books, and tools.
Todd joined Kathy as a member of Toastmasters International, Dunwoody Club several years ago, where they developed many close friendships.
Dedicated to staying fit, Todd was a lifelong bodybuilder. He developed an extensive home gym where he enjoyed working out. He studied nutrition and cooked delicious and healthy meals for himself and his family. When he was diagnosed with cancer in April 2020, he became an active participant in his own care, studying cancer and treatment modalities, even introducing a new drug treatment to one of his physicians.
Todd is survived by his devoted wife Kathy Floyd; their son Adam Tucker; his sister, Shelley Tucker; his brother, Scott Tucker (Jamie Jones); his sister-in-law, Debbie Payne (Don); his nieces Morgan Bobinski, Taylor Bobinski (Miquel Lopez), Katie Payne, Jill Floyd, Leigh Anne Floyd; and nephew Travis Payne (Jenna).
A memorial service was held for close friends and family on May 21, 2023, at the Dunwoody Nature Center in Atlanta.
