Catherine Phillips

Catherine Louise Phillips of Marietta Georgia passed away on May 20,2023 at the age of 73 from Cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Leslie Pierce of St, Louis Missouri, She was the daughter of the late Maurice Everette Phillips Jr, of Monroe Louisiana and Doretta Schuchs Phillips of Ferriday Louisiana. Catherine attended Christ The King and Ursuline Academy in Dallas Texas. Her final year she graduated from South Natchez High School in Natchez Mississippi. She attended College at Sophie Newcombe College for Women in New Orleans Louisiana. Catherine was employed by the Charity Hospital New Orleans Computer Services early in her IT career. She was expert in managing extensive databases on mainframe systems and utilizing IBM flagship DB products. She was employed by several large companies, Sara Lee, Coach, and Hanes. She supported New York Medicaid transitioning to real time processing of one of the world's largest payroll systems. Catherine is survived by her brother Van Robert Phillips II Sherry Bernard Byrnes of Natchez, Mississippi, her sister Doretta Phillips-Barrett and husband David W. Barrett of Metairie Louisiana, Carol Harris Weeks of Madison Mississippi, Daughter Sarah Bullen. Andrea Pierce, her sister- in- law and Jim Jackson and her niece Celeste of Arlington VA. Jeff and Jennifer Pierce of St. Louis Missouri and their daughter Karen. Two nephews, Van Robert Phillips III and his wife Kim Phillips of Missouri and their son Conner Phillips. Trey Phillips and his son Mason Phillips of West Monroe Louisiana, Celesta Shannon and her God daughter Ivy Shannon of Marietta Georgia and her two loyal standard poodles Remy and Walker. Catherine will be laid to rest at the Georgia National Cemetery in nearby Canton Georgia beside her husband Tom. A graveside service will be held July 21, 2023, at 11:30 AM. Reverend Andrea Pierce will be officiating.
