Phyllis Elaine Elder Wallis

May 28, 1943 ~ August 3, 2013

Phyllis Elaine Elder Wallis lost her year-long battle to cancer on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the age of 70. She was born on May 28, 1943 in South Bend, Indiana. She lived in Florida for the majority of her life and ended up residing in Marietta, Georgia. Phyllis is survived by her two daughters Tina Caldwell (husband Danny) and Nikki Wallis (fiancé Chris); granddaughters Brandie Caldwell (boyfriend Michael) and Mindy Caldwell (fiancé Bobby); sister Charlotte Kajzer (husband Jerry); nieces and nephew: Jennifer Bang (husband Earl & daughter Devin), Sarah Nagy Smith (husband Casey and children Ty & Alexa), and Michael Nagy (wife Jenn); sister-in-law Linda Nagy; and her pug Sophie. Phyllis is predeceased in her death by her mother and father, Martha and Alex Nagy, her brother Don Nagy, and husband Roy Elder. She left a special place in all of the hearts of the people she came in contact with. She was a loving and wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed but we are all grateful she is in a much better place of comfort and peace. There will be a emptiness in all of our hearts but hopefully we can fill it with all of the wonderful memories we had over the course of her lifetime. The family would like to give a special thanks to all of the nurses, caregivers, and staff at Winnwood Retirement and Tranquility Hospice that took such wonderful care of her over the past couple of months. We wouldn't have been able to do it without them. As per Phyllis' request a memorial service will not take place. In her memory, in lieu of flowers, a donation to any cancer society that supports research for the cures of lung or liver cancer would be greatly appreciated by the family. 1. Every time I went to visit you someone would stop me and ask me if I was your daughter. I would tell them yes and they would proceed to tell me how funny you were and how much they loved taking care of you. They all wanted me to know how much you touched all of them and that you were a very special person. They all said it was an honor to have taken care of you. I hope you were able to realize that. I tried to make you proud when I wrote this obituary even though it was extremely hard to consolidate all of my feelings into such a short amount of words. I hope you are up in heaven laying on a cloud with Jasmine right beside you and that you are reunited with all of your family. I know that they are happy to see you even though we are sad you have left us. I love you and will miss you. I will see you again one day.

  2. My thoughts and prayers are with Nikki, Tina, and all of Phyllis’s family. She was very special to me and also very close to her brother, my husband before he passed three yrs ago. We would always laugh and have a good time even through both of their battles with cancer. We always tried to focus on the positive. Remember all the good times since I know that is what Phyllis would want. Love, Linda

  3. Phyllis was an extraordinarily delightful and loving person. In the short time that I knew her I grew to love her like my own mother. She will be missed.

  17. Phyllis and I met 3 years ago. Little did I know what a joy she would be in my life. Phyllis and I could sit and have conversation that we couldn’t have with other people. There was a comfort level that we both shared and appreciated. We shared many things in those 3 years. And many of the things we spoke about was how precious her girls were! She loved her 4 girls. It was our loss when our Lord took you away from your family. But we know He only takes the best. And Thank You Nikki for letting me be apart of your Mom s life. You girls are a reflection of your Mom and Nana.

  18. Phyllis it’s been 3 years and my heart still hurts from the loss of my special friend. I know you were sent to me by the Lord. I just wish we could of had more time together. You will always be a part of me. I still today sit and laugh as I look back on some of the special moments we shared. You brought joy to my life and I’m proud to say you are still bringing joy to my life. Again I just want to say Thank you my friend for being a very beautiful person in my life. Love you always. Brenda.
