Charles Powell

Powell, Dr. Charles Vinson, age 78, of Acworth, passed away Feb. 27, 2016. Service Mar. 3, 10:30 AM, Southern Cremations & Funerals at Cheatham Hill, Marietta. Dr. Powell was a scholar with a keen interest in psychology and cosmology. He received his doctorate in Psychology from the University of Georgia (UGA) in 1973. He went on to teach at Columbus College, UGA and Kennesaw State College during the late 1960's through the early 1980's. He later went into the distribution business, eventually founding The Free Georgia Company. He is preceded in death by both his first wife, Jane Councilman, and second wife, Maxine Shram. Dr. Powell is survived by his children John Kevin Powell of Canton, Scott Powell of Jasper, and Rachel Powell Green of Fairmount, and three grandchildren.
