Myron Odell Ostlund (85) of Atlanta, GA, died peacefully on Saturday August 22, 2015 with family by his side. Myron was born on May 29, 1930 in Fergus Falls, MN to Aldrich and Eva (Weaver) Ostlund. On February 20, 1955 he married Audrey Jo Peterson and together they had 4 children.
He graduated from Alexandria High School and attended Hamline University before obtaining a degree in Business Management from St. Cloud State University. Myron continued his education with a MBA from the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks in School Administration.
After completing college he served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army at Fort Mead, Maryland.
Myron began his career as a business teacher in Wabasha, MN. He later became Senior High School Principal in Evansville, MN. After a few years the family moved to Howard Lake, MN and then Sauk Rapids, MN where he continued to serve as High School Principal. An outgoing friendly person, Myron was a dedicated educator attending all events held at the schools. He was proud to call all his students by name.
Myron enjoyed spending time at his cabin on Ottertail Lake, traveling in his RV, and watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings before switching to the Atlanta Braves and Falcons. In his later years you would find him riding his beloved John Deere mower, building bird houses or tending to yard work. Myron will be lovingly remembered by many.
Myron is survived by his devoted wife Audrey, of 60 years, and his four children – Jill Fox St. Cloud, MN; Barry Ostlund Shakopee, MN; Cynthia (Kerry) Davidsen Marietta, GA; and Robin Ostlund Lawrenceville, GA; Grandchildren - Maureen (Tim) FoxMeyer, Kyle Jo Davidsen, Andrew (Samantha) Fox, and Tiffany (Blake) Steiner; and Great grandchildren - Caleb and Aubrey Knapp, Kieran Meyer, and Zoe Fox; sister Irene Bergstrom and brother Neil (Betty) Ostlund. He was predeceased by his parents, Aldrich and Eva Ostlund, sister Donna Mae Pertl, brother in-laws Alexander Pertl and Robert Bergstrom, sister in-law Mary Ostlund and son in-law Terry R. Fox.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery on Friday August 28, 2015 at 11:30 AM. Memorial donations may be made in Myron's name to Hospice Atlanta, to whom we will be forever grateful.
