Mrs. Karen M. Baker

November 19, 1948 ~ July 5, 2015

Karen McClure Baker, 66, died peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2015, at her home in Acworth, GA after a four year battle with breast cancer. Karen's strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through her journey. Even throughout her own struggle with cancer, she reached out to others affected by the horrendous disease by just comforting them while they were receiving their chemo treatments simultaneously. Karen was born on November 19, 1948, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to John and Nedra McClure. She was a 1966 graduate of Sprayberry High School and a 1968 graduate of Wenatchee Valley Jr. College, Wenatchee, Washington. After graduating from college, Karen met her sweetheart, Bill Baker in 1968, and they were married on July 18, 1969. Karen truly lived life to the fullest; she loved to entertain family and friends and so enjoyed cooking and baking, which all enjoyed. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling and laughter will never be forgotten. She was an active member of First Baptist Church Woodstock. Karen is preceded in death by her father, Lt. Col. John C. McClure. She is survived by her Mother, Nedra McClure; husband, John W. Baker; daughters Alison Broughton and Angela Baker; two grandsons, Tyler and Chandler Broughton; one great grandson, Link Broughton; her sister and her husband, Debby and Darryl Wilson; her brother, Jay McClure; and two nephews, Caleb and Jacob McClure. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 8th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the chapel of First Baptist Church Woodstock.
