Curtis Anne Lang Britton

Curtis Anne Lang Britton passed away after a brief illness on February 28, 2016. She was born in Athens, GA, moving to Atlanta with her family as a teen where she attended Bass High School. Anne managed Customer Support at BioLab for 24 years in Decatur, GA. After retirement in 2002, she moved to The Villages in FL where she enjoyed golf and travel. Anne's talent and love of singing, along with her style and poise, earned her the title of Mrs. Senior Georgia in 1998. Competing for the national title Mrs. Senior America in Biloxi, MS, she placed 1st Runner Up and was voted Mrs. Congeniality. Anne was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Mary Lang, brothers David Bruce, Robert Lewis, and Thomas Freeman Lang, and sister Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Thorne. She is survived by her children Laurie Avera Scharlau, Mark and Bonnie Avera, grandchildren Travis Avera, Torie Avera Kosiba, Elizabeth Scharlau Roling, Max Scharlau, great granddaughter Emmy Roling, and several nieces and nephews Anne was known for her joie de vivre, quick humor, and positive attitude. She had a sophistication that was evident in her stylish person and surroundings. A gifted and gracious hostess who loved to entertain her family and friends, she was wonderfully inclusive to others. Anne saw the good in world and sought to make the best of everything, seeing things in a positive light. We will deeply miss her. A memorial celebrating Anne's life will be held at 5 p.m Saturday March 19 at the chapel at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park in Marietta, GA.
