Irvin Wilson Sorey, age 87 of Woodstock, died Wednesday January 14, 2015 with his wife and daughter by his side at Kennestone Hospital following a brief illness.
Irvin was born August 30 1927 to the late David James and Addie Mae Sorey in Princess Anne County, Virginia. He worked for many years with the city of Norfolk, Virginia as a master Paint & Body technician. He had a mechanical gift and the ability to restore or fix anything.
In addition to her parents, Mr. Sorey is preceded in death by his sisters; Phyllis Kay Salmon and Deanna Robyn Locklear and a grandson; Darrell Colbroth.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years; Margaret Sykes Sorey of Woodstock, children; Patty "Trish" White and her husband David of Marietta, son; David Paul Sorey of Hertford, NC, daughter; Larene Gale Bernard and her husband Matthew of Pifford, NY, son; Irvin Wilson Sorey, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Chesapeake, VA, grandchildren; David Sorey, Robert Sorey, Belinda Moritz, Amanda Bernard, James Sorey, Samantha Sorey, Dara Salmon, Ryan Locklear and Daniel Locklear, sister; Gladys French, numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
A Graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park. Dr. Brian Germano will be officiating. The family will also receive friends Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Southern Cremations & Funeral at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park from 10:00 am to service time.
