Woodrow Wilson Vennel II, age 79 of Powder Springs, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016. A longtime resident of Smyrna, Georgia, he was an aeronautical engineer for Lockheed and retired after 33 years. Survivors include his daughters, Sheri Vennel Underwood of Big Canoe, GA, Bette Renae Vennel of Powder Springs, GA; son, Roger Scott Vennel of Dallas, GA; sister, Virginia Vennel Grainger of Shalimar, FL; 3 grandchildren, Kasey Murrey, Taylor Vennel and Josh Vennel; 3 great-grandchildren, Madeleine Murrey, Tyler Vennel and Hayes Murrey and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley Askew Vennel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park Columbarium with Pastor John Womack officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Lung Association or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. The Family will receive friends one hour after the service.
