Marietta Southern Cremations & Funerals
Jack Hebb, Sr. went home to be with the
Lord on Friday, November 14, 2014 at the age of
77. He had spent several weeks in the hospital
from symptoms related to blood pressure and
dehydration, and eventually succumbed to
complications stemming from back-to-back
strokes at Northside Hospital in Canton, GA.
Jack was born in 1937 in the small town of
Troy, Ohio, to William and Sarah (Young) Hebb.
The youngest of 8 children, Jack quickly
developed a reputation for being smart,
energetic, and ornery. His only surviving sibling,
Ramona Garvey, once became so fed up with
him that she that she held him down in the
driveway and jokingly begged her boyfriend to
run over him with the car.
Ever the story-teller, Jack enjoyed
recounting the adventures of his youth and
laughing through the countless moments of
enjoyment shared with family and friends. He is
often remembered for his strong work ethic and
high standards, which served him well as a
builder of planes at Lockheed and a builder of
character in his children and grandchildren.
Jack's intellect was always as busy as his
hands, and he particularly delighted in
conversations about politics, animals, and his
Christian faith. Dialogue with Jack revealed his
strong morals, witty sense of humor, and tender
heart.
Jack is survived by his wife, Carol; his
children (and spouses) Jack (Fran), Cindy
(Larry), Jeannie, and Jim (Ranee); his
grandchildren Jack Hebb III (Rachel), Christi
Newbern, Andrea Newbern, Joy Jones
(Conner), Joshua Newbern (Jessica), Thomas
Johnson, Sam Hebb, Savannah Johnson, and
Tyler Johnson; his great-grandchildren Alexa
and Jack IV; and his beloved dogs Dinky and
Oreo.
Jack has left a powerful legacy, and will be
missed greatly by all. We love you!

‘You will forever be missed, Top Dog. Thank you for the memories and legacy you leave behind.’
‘May he rest in peace. God bless the ones he left behind.
Cathy Ford Brown’
‘So sorry for your loss, but know that your Dad was welcomed into the arms of Jesus in his new home in Heaven. What a godly husband, father, and grandfather he was! Lifting your family in prayer.
Love in Christ,
Vicki (Ward) & Charles Frey’
‘Jack was such a force of nature, and we enjoyed his company and humor. What a loss for all. Our deepest sympathy to the family.’
‘I have had the pleasure of knowing Jack and Carol Hebb for 27+ years. (We lived across the street). He cherished his family and was a man dedicated to God. I remember he would always say hi when outside or walking his dogs and his sense of humor. He will be missed by many but his legacy will live on. May God gently wrap His loving arms around Jack’s family as they mourn the loss of a terrific man.’
‘I ache with pain today as I lost a very dear, lifelong friend yesterday. Jack was the man who first taught me to be a genuine man, regardless of what others do. He taught me that nothing means anything in life but family and love for others. He taught me that if God is not the center of my life, then I have no center. He taught me the value of being a father and a spiritual leader. He taught me how to be gentle although my insides were raging. He taught me to care for others when others cared nothing for me. He taught me that what was in the heart of a man was far more important than any success he could ever achieve. He was a great man and a towering figure in my life. He is indeed one of my foundational figures. I will miss you greatly, Jack… what you instilled in me will never leave me. I’ll pass your message on to others just as you did your entire life… I promise! I love you, Top Dog!’
