Carolyn Monroe Ivey

September 6, 1940 ~ July 22, 2023

Carolyn Ivey was born Carolyn Virginia Monroe on September 6, 1940 in Atlanta, GA. She passed away peacefully while surrounded by family in her Marietta, GA home on July 22, 2023 at the age of 82. She is survived by her son, Mike (Jan) Ivey; grandchildren, Christian Ivey, Carlie (Josef) Oliver, Ava and Michael Ivey, Bo (Laurie) Lyon, Julie (Jay) Prince, and Jon Jones; great-grandchildren, Jayden and Jurnee Prince; sister, Judy Crawford; brother, Kenneth (Lisa) Monroe; and extended family. Carolyn attended West Fulton High School and Massey Business School; she then worked at OBGYN & Associates as an Office Manager for 40 years. In addition to working, Carolyn was a devoted mother to her two children, Mike and Debora, and to her grandson, Bo. As her children were growing up, she was an active member of Sharon Baptist Church, and her faith in God was always a meaningful part of her life. For fun, Carolyn loved to shop and was a talented stylist. She enjoyed going to the gym and staying active, cooking and collecting cookbooks, riding around in her nice sports cars, spending time with her many friends and family, and bragging about her son and grandchildren. Carolyn was the life of the party with a servant’s heart and a great sense of humor! Her generosity and love knew no bounds. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 2:00 PM followed by a memorial service at 3:00 at Southern Cremations & Funerals Columbarium Chapel, located at: 1891 Dallas Highway, Marietta, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to The Alzheimer’s Association.
