Frances Scott Goodnow, 78, of Smyrna, GA, passed away peacefully atTranquility Hospice surrounded by her family on August 3, 2023. A service ofdedication and remembrance will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at2pm, at Southern Cremations & Funerals of Cheatham Hill Memorial Park,Marietta GA.
Fran was preceded in death by her brother Jimmy Scott, mother Erma JewellScott, and father James Cordell Scott. She is survived by her husband of over 55years David Goodnow, her son Alan Goodnow, her daughter Holly Goodnow,her niece Wendy Carver and her husband Scott, her sister-in-law Glennon Scottand a number of cousins.
Fran grew up in Galen and Lafayette, TN with her momma, papa, youngerbrother Jimmy and many cousins. Growing up in the baptist church, her faithwas rock solid throughout her life. She graduated from Macon County HighSchool and then MTSU to pursue a career as a high school teacher. She took ajob in Indiana where she met David and they married a few years later. Shetaught in Indiana and Georgia for many years. Fran’s family was all-important inher life. She loved Dave, Alan, Holly, Jimmy, Wendy and Glennon more thananything, and her light and warmth will be greatly missed. She passes her giftsof honesty, kindness, patience and ability to find beauty on to her kids. Shededicated her time to being a wonderful teacher respected by her colleaguesas well as the ideal wife & teammate for Dave, standing by him through life,creating joy, bringing peace, and managing two energetic youngsters.
Fran was an incredibly wonderful wife and mother, sister, aunt, cousin andfriend. Wherever she went, people always gravitated toward her. She was kind,clever, loving, generous & thoughtful. Her presence created a warm space forpeople to be themselves. She was an even, balanced place in the world, aconsistent beacon of calm and safety, a beautiful human with a bright andshining soul. We love you Fran, momma, rest well.
