Marion Ison Edwards Jairrels passed away on August 14, 2023, after a brief illness. She was 85 years old.
Marion was born July 28, 1938, to Lucinda and Oliver Ison in Atlanta, GA. She was raised in the Buttermilk Bottoms and later in the Fourth Ward of Atlanta. She is the fourth child out of 12 children.
She is predeceased by her parents (Oliver and Lucinda), five brothers (Walter, Willie, Johnny, Joseph, and James), and three sisters (Mary, Christina, and Lucy). Lastly, both husbands (Clarence Edwards Sr and Johnny Jairrels Sr)
She attended John Hope Elementary School and David T. Howard Highschool. She later obtained her GED and graduated from Atlanta Area Tech, where she received her associate degree in early childhood.
Marion held many jobs throughout her life, working at several local restaurants in the Atlanta area during the 50s and 60s. She was known for making the best cocktails in those days. Later in her life, she transitioned into working with young children. After obtaining her Early Childhood degree, she worked for Ernestine Wright at University Plaza Nursery for many years. She enjoyed working with all children and loved working with Art. She invested in many hours of love by creating bulletin boards in the center and people's homes. She also spent many hours attending her children's school, volunteering with the PTA and school store, and working with the Boy Scouts. Marion continued to care for children by becoming a Nanny for the Burns Family, and she helped raise three wonderful children like they were her grandchildren.
Marion leaves behind four sons, (John Jairrels, Clarence Edward, Edwin (Gloria) Edwards, Johnny (Megan) Jairrels, and three daughters (Tracy (Rik) Francis, Vickie Edwards, and Tisa (Ray Wimby) Jairrels.
She has thirteen grandchildren (Ben, Tarsha, Byron, Kim, Monique Tara, Lakiela, Edwin Jr., Deon Jr., Christopher, Savannah, and Amaya.) She also has thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchildren.)
Lastly, she leaves two sisters (Anne and Lillie) and one brother (Lewis Jr.). She also has a host of Nieces, nephews, and friends she loves with all her heart.
