Nida Hines

February 19, 1975 ~ February 4, 2018

Nida Modrigo Hines was born on February 19, 1975 in Manila, Philippines to Dominador and Lydia Felipe. She leaves behind to cherish her memories: her husband of 22 years John Hines, their 11-year-old son Tahir, her mother Lydia, sister Nancy and brothers Nelson and Noli. Nida possessed and inner light and easy smile that blessed her with a diverse host of friends and acquaintances. Nida was a loving and dedicated daughter, wife, and mother, who always strove to put her family first. Some would say she was an “old soul” having a strength and resilience beyond her years. Upon her arrival in America she sought work to help her family at home and abroad. She found her niche in retail where she worked as a Customer Service Supervisor for Walmart for over 10 years. During the final three years of her life she courageously fought a battle with cancer. She was finally given rest from her illness on February 4, 2018 at Halcyon Hospice in Atlanta Georgia. A funeral service will be held at Southern Cremations and Funerals at Cheatham Hill. The address is 1861 Dallas Highway SW, Marietta, Georgia 30064. The funeral service will be held in the Columbarium at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018. Visitation will be held in the Columbarium from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018. A private service will be held at a later date to lay her remains to rest. In lieu of flowers the family has established an educational Memorial Fund in accordance with Nida’s wishes to ensure her son’s continued education. A link will be added shortly. Please refer back to this page where a link will be provided, at a future date. Condolences may be left on the obituary tribute wall.

  9. Dear Nida,
I’m so glad that you were part of my life.
You were nice, caring, loving, companionate, humble, and a hard-worker.
You were always there to support your family, friends, and coworkers when needed.
You were a trooper in this fight against cancer, and i want to let you know that you are my hero. You fought gracefully until the end.
Our last conversation we had, you brought all these good memories and we laughed so much (the day we get together and ate Senegalese food with our hands; shopping at the mall; working at Sears trying to get sale and just giggling because we wanted to).
You will be missed, and you will always stay in my memories.
    Love you always,
    Seni O’Neill, your friend forever

  13. Maritza Santiago Colone says:

Nida…what a beauty of a woman! I met her in 2016 at my son’s birthday party and all I could think of was how beautiful and sweet she was. When my mom died, she was the first person who called me as I was digesting the news. Over the past two years, I was a blessed woman to have met her and just talk, share and pray with her. She knew the best places to eat! She was a strong, wise, wonderful woman and friend and I will miss her much. God grant great comfort, peace and strength to her mom, siblings, husband, son and extended family.

  14. It was the many, beautiful, twenty-two years of wonderful memories captured; and today, Nida is alive in my heart forever – bringing Life of peace, calm, resiliency, and to achieve one’s ambitions – as she has proven against all odds with her smile to encourage you to cross that finish line – never give up. May God continue to bring comfort and strength to Nida’s family, as Nida rest in the love of Christ with heavenly peace. Deeply missed with Love, Vasuthara
