Robert Tommy Ross, age 68, a resident of Southwest Atlanta, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at his residence. Robert was born on November 1, 1954, to Mr. Billie and Mabell L. Ross in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the sixth child born of seven siblings, including Cookie Ross, Peggy Ross, Dennis Ross, Zody Ross and Polly Ross. Robert was always a caring person. At the age of 3 ½ the Ross family relocated from Kansas City to Illinois, there he enrolled in the fifth grade at Lowell Elementary School. There he found the true meaning of friendship and became fast friends with Elaine Oliver. As the years passed, he matriculated to High School, at Central High School, where he was an excellent student and enjoyed many extracurricular activities. He enjoyed helping people and received many awards, certificates, but most importantly, everyday life skills. Hardworking, ambitious, independent and strong-willed are just a few words to describe Robert. He persevered through many challenges, obstacles and traumatic events. He was courageous and never let adversity stop him from pursuing his goals. His greatest joys of life were his children and grandchildren. Robert viewed them as the future, full of so much potential and endless possibilities. Robert had warm eyes, a great sense of humor, an amazing laugh and a genuine smile. He was an avid reader, always wanting to learn and excel in understanding any topic that interested him. As a music lover, Robert enjoyed everything Old School, from the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin to the Isley Brothers. In 2020 Robert joined the National Church Residences, where his active participation strengthen his relationship with God and created lasting friendships that brought him great joy and comfort. Robert leaves to cherish his memories, his son Bruce Long, his daughters and grandchildren and a host of extended family and other relatives and friends.
