John Fernando Barker, 62, of Dallas, GA, passed away on March 1, 2018 in Carrollton, GA.
Visitation will be 2pm Thursday, March 8, 2018, at the Columbarium at Southern Cremations and Funerals in Marietta, GA.
Funeral Services will be held at 3pm Thursday, March 8, 2018, at the Columbarium at Southern Cremations and Funerals, followed by a gathering until 5pm.
John was born in the Panama Canal Zone to John Barker and Mercedes Garcia on January 16, 1956. He went to school on a military base in the Panama Canal Zone prior to moving to DeLand, Florida. He attended elementary, middle and high school in DeLand. He married Tammie Ruth Marsh on March 21, 1980 in DeLand, Florida at DeLand Church of God. He worked at the water plant in DeLand and went on to working as a floor technician for Atlanta West Carpets for over 25 years.
John is preceded in death by father John Barker, mother Mercedes Garcia, brothers Bill and Henry Barker.
John is survived by his wife, Tammie Ruth Barker, his adopted daughter Heather Marie Gantt, daughter Michelle Lynn Barker, and son Philip John Andrew Barker, along with three sisters-in-law Glynda Elkins, Tita Jimenez and Pam Merrill, as well as grandchildren Tiffanie Emerald Bollen, Xavier Kyle Phillips, Lewis Wayne Phillips, Adrieana Nichole Glover and Keyonie Rachelle Glover, and nieces and nephews Richard Barker, Enrique Barker, Natasha Barker, Melinda Gulledge, Tonya Estrada, Angela Turner, Rachel Elkins, Alan and Michelle Marsh.
Memorials will be given during the viewing and service. The family of John Barker wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, GA, and residents and staff at The Purpose Center in Carrollton, GA for caring for him in his last days.
