Marietta Southern Funerals & Cremations
Gerald M. Brown (Jerry) passed away peacefully at his home in Marietta, Georgia on November 17, 2023, which also happens to be his father’s birthday. He passed away from organ failure and had battled Parkinson’s disease.
Jerry was born April 20,1938 in Kansas City, Missouri and died at the age of 85. Jerry and Lucy were united in marriage June 8, 1969. Lucy survives at the home after 54 years together.
Jerry worked at IBM early on and then opened several businesses with his wife Lucy. Jerry and Lucy started their life together in Independence, Missouri then lived in Marietta, Georgia until his passing. He is remembered for his love of story telling and his “white” gorgeous hair. He told his children the famous cowboy Moe and Joe stories he made up to teach morals and daily lessons while tickling them to sleep. Jerry could always be counted on to organize fun for the children at family gatherings. Vacations were always an adventure filled with his crazy antics as well as those black socks he wore with cowboy boots. He loved to tinker and was always looking to discover the next great invention. Jerry left behind several story ideas or starters for his grand children to complete.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rose K Brown, and Bernard B. Brown Sr.; his sister, Camille Ainsworth; his brother, Bernard B Brown Jr.; his sister-in-law, Sammy Brown,; his stepson, Vincent Marlatte,; and his niece Laura Kreutzer.
He is lovingly remembered by his sister Roberta Stepien of Kansas City, Missouri, his daughters, Vanessa (Richard) Ayles of Kansas City, Missouri, Cassie Brown Burton of Arizona, and Susanne (Paul) Richmond of Ames, Iowa, his grand children Stevie (David) Cambiano of Liberty, Missouri, Corey Ayles of Kansas City, Missouri, Brandyn (Dianna) Ayles of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Sebastian (Nikki) Ayles of Kansas City, Missouri, Jacob (Katy) Burton of North Kansas City, Missouri, Kelli Burton of Liberty, Missouri, Jessica Eckley of Ames, Iowa, Kurt (Jessahanne) Richmond of Elkhart, Iowa, 9 great grandchildren and 7 nieces and nephews.
As per Jerry’s request he was cremated and no funeral or memorial service will be held.

What a life you lived! The stories and tickling are core memories. Always down to entertain the kids at gatherings and ignite their imaginations.
Glad you are at peace.
I will forever cherish our last video call and “Dad, I love you too!”
Uncle Jerry was always fun to be around. I loved the sound of his voice and his laugh. He had fun telling us kids stories, chasing us around the house and yard at Grandma Brown’s house on Roberts. But most recently my Mom, Camille, and I would call Uncle Jerry and Aunt Lucy to see what was going on with each other. Mom was in assisted living at that time with alz. Mom so loved talking to her brother. She ALWAYS would tell him how handsome he was and what a cute little boy he was.
I was blessed to talk to Uncle Jerry before he passed. Susie held the phone to his ear. I told him how much Mom and I loved our phone calls with him and that I loved him. I said to him when he was ready Mom would be there to welcome him to heaven.
We love you Uncle Jerry❤️
So sorry for your loss. May the memory of your father give you peace and comfort. With sympathy, Deb and Jon Sunstrom
