James "Jim" A Griffin, Jr

James (Jim) A. Griffin, Jr., 77, of Austell, GA, passed away on March 11, 2018 in hospice care. Jim’s ashes will be placed at the Columbarium at Cheatham Hill at a later date. Arrangements are being made with Southern Cremations and Funerals. Jim was born September 8, 1940 in Douglas, GA to Rebecca and James Griffin Sr. He served in the US Navy on the USS Randolph from 1959-1961. He married Dorothy (Dot) Kendall on December 26, 1962. He worked as a land surveyor for most of his life. Although his brand of humor caught some people off guard, he never failed to make those around him smile and laugh. He was always the life of any gathering and he loved his family, especially his wife, more than anything else. Although a close second to his family was UGA football. Jim is preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his wife, Dot Griffin; his brother, Frank Griffin; his sons, Warren and Chip Griffin; 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Jim’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Pandy who was his physician for many, many years as well as the staff at Tranquility Cobb who ensured his final days were filled with respect and dignity.
