In Loving Memory of Cheryl Dunlap
Cheryl Dunlap, born on October 24, 1963, departed from this world on January 2, 2024. A beloved mother, dedicated community member, and proud former police officer, Cheryl touched the lives of many with her strength, kindness, and unwavering spirit.
Cheryl's commitment to service extended beyond her role as a loving mother to her daughter. For nearly two decades, she served as a proud police officer, demonstrating resilience and dedication until health reasons led her to retire. Cheryl's impact reached even further as she selflessly volunteered at her church's food pantry, embodying compassion and generosity.
Despite facing a disability that arose 13 years ago, Cheryl continued to find joy and purpose in life. Her favorite pastime became spending cherished moments with her daughter and son-in-law, Charli and Lee Charles Castro, creating lasting memories and forming an unbreakable bond.
Fond recollections from the family include playing Super Mario on the Nintendo as a young child, cooking together, and embarking on a spontaneous trip to Tennessee that holds a special place in their hearts. Cheryl's dreams of exploring the world through train rides and cruises to Alaska may have been hindered by her disability, but her spirit remained adventurous and resilient.
Cheryl's independent nature, strong work ethic, and determination defined her character. She seldom asked for help, always making ends meet and taking pride in every endeavor she pursued. Her love knew no bounds, and she consistently showered those around her with gifts, regardless of the financial implications.
In honoring Cheryl Dunlap's memory, let us remember her as a beacon of strength, love, and perseverance. May her legacy inspire us to cherish the simple joys of life, to lend a helping hand, and to embrace each moment with the ones we hold dear. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of Cheryl Dunlap's life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, starting at 3:00 PM at Southern Cremations & Funerals of Marietta. In accordance with Cheryl's wishes, please join us in celebrating her vibrant spirit by not wearing black. Flowers can be purchased on the funeral home's website as a loving tribute to her memory.
Rest in peace, dear Cheryl.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Cheryl and I first met at Paulding county Sheriffs office. We immediately became friends. She was a devoted deputy and loved her work. Later she brought a beautiful baby girl into the world calling her Charli. I was there with her on the day she gave birth and was ask to be her Godmother. She was not only a devoted friend but a loving mother. Her heart was as big as the world and was kind and caring Lady. I grew close to Cheryl and Charlie and Cheryl’s Mother. When I married Cheryl stood with me while Charli slept through the ceremony and half the reception. She was there for you if you needed her. She is now with God and her Father & Mother & My husband rejoicing. No more pain ,no more worries nothing but a big smile. Charli I pray that God continues to give you comfort and the strength to get through this time of heartbreak. We shed tears because we will miss them but know we will be with them again one day. My deepest condolences Charli and family.
