Carolyn Virginia Rabun

August 25, 1924 ~ April 2, 2018

Carolyn Agnew Rabun, 93, of Marietta, Georgia, went home to be with our Lord on April 2, 2018, passing peacefully in her sleep. She is wonderfully reunited with her beloved husband Luther, who passed in 2016. She was born August 25, 1924 in Atlanta, GA to parents Charles Alexander Agnew and Carrie McIlveen Agnew. She was the 3rd of 5 children. After the family moved to Macon, she graduated from Miller High School in Macon. She then attended and graduated from business school in Atlanta. After a number of years working in the business world, she found her true calling becoming the church secretary and serving faithfully for over 25 years. She and Luther were a model couple of dedicated love and devotion to each other for over 69 years. They loved traveling around the Southeast (via car only!) always enjoying the countryside and each other, and often attending their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities. Carolyn was a dedicated follower of Christ and was truly the spiritual leader of the family. Also, as church secretary, a multi-year participant of the Georgia UMC Charge Conference, a long-time member of the church choir and a leader of the women’s ministry, she was a spiritual leader for many in the church. Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Renee Rhoden (Randy) of Jacksonville, and Barbara Buchanan of Marietta; as well as her sons Buddy (Margaret) and Ken (Suzy), both of Marietta. Also, grandchildren Krissy Hartless (Geoff) and Robby Rhoden (Molly), both of Jacksonville; Jesse Davis (Paul) of Greenville, SC; Luke Rabun (Sarah) of Kennesaw; Callie Hsiang (Jeff) of Knoxville; Lexie Conway (Trey) of Smyrna; and Rachel Czekalla of Marietta. She also has seven great-grandchildren: Danielle, Liz and Ricky Hartless and Maggie, Abby and Ryan Rhoden, all of Jacksonville; and Dash Davis of Greenville. She is also survived by her baby sister, Frances Wooten of Knoxville, as well as numerous nephews and nieces and their families. Other than Luther, she was preceded in death by her first grandchild Rick Rhoden as well as by her sister Evelyn, and brothers Charles and James. The celebration of her life will be for family only. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to East Cobb United Methodist Church of Marietta, their long-time church.
