James Robert Norton

November 11, 1947 ~ April 16, 2018

James Robert Norton passed away on Monday April 16th 2018 after a very brief but intense battle with cancer, James was born on November 11th, 1947 to John Warren Norton and Shirley Kay Norton of Chicago, Illinois. James grew up in Chicago and moved to Atlanta in 1971. James worked as a sales representative in the remanufactured auto parts industry for over 40 years, and founded his own business, R.E.P. Inc. (Remanufactured Electrical Parts), in 1995. He was an avid golfer, history enthusiast, and enjoyed spending vacations in Nevada (especially Lake Tahoe). James true joy came from many, many weekends with grandson Joshua playing cars, planes and trains and EPIC Nerf Battles creating bunkers out of RED SOLO CUPS. He was overjoyed AND VERY HONORED when his NAMESAKE Jacob James entered into our hearts. He was looking forward to playing cars, planes and trains and teaching Jacob strategies (to be used on Cousin Joshua) of EPIC Nerf Battles. James is remembered as a thoughtful, caring, and giving man who could walk into any room with any crowd and fit right in, making everyone comfortable and quickly laugh. James is survived by his loving wife, Geri Norton; daughter Nechol Norton, sons: David Norton, Tony Norton and wife Melissa; grandchildren Maya Cribbs, Hope Cribbs, Joshua Norton, and Jacob James Norton; brothers: John Norton and wife Glory, Dan Norton and wife Diane, and Tim Norton and wife Alice; and his Uncle Ron Welsch. A Celebration of LIFE service will be held Saturday, June 16th 2018 at Laurel Springs Golf Club Located at 6400 Golf Club Drive SUWANEE, GA 30024 from 2:00 p.m. — 5:00 p.m. where the family will welcome guests to share memories and celebrate James' life. Guestbook

  1. Jim is truly missed by all his co-workers at BPS.

  2. I have known Jim since 1973 and he will be missed RIP my Friend

  3. I met Jim in 1987 while working at IPM. He was a pretty laid back person that was very generous & who really enjoyed life; especially golf! He had been a blessing for me & my family on a personal level with the annual Christmas lunches at Pilgreen’s & gifts. I believe that people are placed in our lives for a reason; whether briefly or long term & I’ve learned to to enjoy life in part because of how he lived. Geri, family & friends; our prayers go out to you.
