Mrs. Jessie Mae Andrews,63, beloved wife, mother, grand mother, and great grandmother, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018, at the WellStar Hospital in Austell, Georgia. Jessie "Doll baby" Andrews (Spencer) was born on November 7, 1954, in Lake Village, Arkansas, the daughter of Willie Gaston and Viola Roper Spencer. She was united in marriage to Larry Andrews who preceded her in death on July 16, 2016. They were married for 48 blissful years, and their union bore two children, Larry and Eric Spencer.
Jessie attended Cooli Vocational High School and graduated in 1973. A consummate mother and homemaker, Jessie was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Jessie was an avid reader who enjoyed reading romance novels and doing crossword puzzles in her spare time. Jessie loved her family and was especially fond of all her grandchildren. Always supportive, encouraging and nurturing to all of them.
Jessie was preceded in death by her mother, Viola Roper Spencer, her father, Willie Gaston, her brothers, Melvin Spencer, Larry Spencer and Virgil “Bubbles” Spencer Jr.
Jessie is survived by her children and their spouses; Larry (Danyelle) Spencer, Powder Springs, GA and Eric (Yolanda) Spencer, Greenville, SC; 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Bernice “Peaches" Spencer, and Nina Spencer, her Mother-in-law, Lillian King, 3 Sister-in-laws ; Pearl Hall, Brenda Andrews and Elaine Shivers; all of Chicago, Illinois, 1 brother-in-law Henry Andrews, Egg Harbor City, NJ and a host of nieces, nephews,( other relatives and friends
Family will receive friends on May 19, 2018 at Southern Cremations and Funerals, starting at 11am to 1pm. The memorial service will be in funeral home chapel, starting at 2pm.
