Jeanette Kaye Perryman, born on September 6, 1945, is one of a set of twins to Mary and Robert Hawkins. Jeanette was very devoted to her twin sister, Arnette Eddleman. She epitomized resilience, compassion, and dedication throughout her life. Raised in Birmingham, Alabama, she pursued her education at Hayes High School before furthering her studies at Clark University in Atlanta, Georgia. There she received a Certificate of Achievement for “Excellence of Performance in Written Communication”, Jeanette was a magnificent speaker. Clark University is also where she met Charles Perryman, whom she would go on to marry. From that union came a son, Charles Antonio Perryman. A year later, Jeanette split from her husband and moved to Hawthorne, California with her mother and siblings.Jeanette's commitment to justice and equality was evident as she and Arnette walked alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the historic march on Selma, advocating fervently for civil rights. Following her passion for serving others, she embarked on a career as a daycare teacher. Jeanette and her sisters Loretta Daniels and Janice Cook opened a Daycare Center at their church, where they provided unwavering care and support to all she encountered.Beyond her professional endeavors, Jeanette cherished her role as a loving and devoted mother, finding immense joy in spending time with her cherished loved ones. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be treasured by her family and friends.Jeanette is survived by brothers Dr. Melvin Hawkins, Riverside, CA and Roland Hawkins Compton, CA; Brother in Law Ferdinand Cook; Sisters in Law Angeline Hawkins, Julia Hawkins, and Cenisia Hawkins; granddaughters Charlie and Charlize; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity. As she embarks on her journey to eternal peace, she will be warmly welcomed by all of her loved ones that preceded her.
