Mrs. Jessica Acie Pettway

December 30, 1987 ~ March 11, 2024

Jessica Acie Pettway was born on December 30, 1987, to Willie J. Garrett and Michelle Roy-Garrett, at Kaiser Permanente in West Los Angeles. The oldest of nine siblings, she became their second mother and was the glue that kept them together. Although Jessica grew up in the "mean streets" of Los Angeles, she received a spiritually based upbringing provided by her father and church, which she carried into every aspect of her life from youth to adulthood. Her intelligence and "out of the box" thinking, cultivated a fire in her to be transparent and authentic in every way. Jessica's fashion sense was prevalent. She started her fashion journey during a trip to Howard University, as a college prep student. She came back to Crenshaw High School, with an unorthodox style, which immediately caught everyone's attention. Jessica found her true love in 2005 with her soon to be husband, Michael Lee Pettway. They connected spiritually, emotionally and mentally. After a few years she worked as a fashion merchandiser and visual manager, for Forever 21. Setting a family trend for her siblings to work there as well. After heavy consideration and prayer, she left her job to start a family. To help make ends meet, Jessica started making video blogs with her cell phone propped up with a shoebox. Her tutorials on caring for her natural hair as well as her daughter's , along with a talent for making any piece of clothing look fashionable, paved the way for her to become JFashiongirl! Jessica set out on a path of greatness as she reinvented what it was to not only be yourself, but to be yourself through your passion. She became a fashion icon. Loved by the masses and adored by the public. However, rather than the fame, her family was her priority. She did not concern herself with the vanities and the superficial aspects of life. She enjoyed the simplicities, primarily FOOD. Don't let her small frame fool you, Jessica could out eat the best of us. Jessica was called home to her heavenly father, Monday March 11th at 12:23 PM. This beautiful Queen is survived by her husband, Michael Lee Pettway and her two little angels, Kai Lee Pettway Zoi Lee Pettway. One glance at those two princesses and you'll know they too have that same gravitational impact held by their mother. There is a great void left without her spirit, laughter, jokes and the overly competitive Thanksgiving Uno Games!. She was the voice of reason and comfort, always giving spiritually based advice and encouragement. Jessica will be in the hearts and minds of her family, friends, and the fashion world for eternity. 3. To Jessica’s Family-
I know what you are going through. Thirteen years ago my younger sister died from cervical cancer. The road she traveled was painful, difficult, paved with hope and despair. Now, all these years later, I am finally able to be happy and remember her as a healthy woman. I speak to her daily, say good night every night. Remember the love. Remember Jessica.

  4. GOD rest your beautiful soul Jessica.

  5. I remember when Jessica was born. She was a beautiful baby. I watched her grow up. We would enjoy shopping trips and lunch. Her mother was always supportive of her. She would often come to my office when I worked at Crenshaw Gifh School. Again I would enjoy our conversations. I loved seeing her on Instagram and how she influenced style and courage. Rest well I. Heaven dear one. You fought the good fight. It is well with your soul

  10. Dear Jessica, I was your online follower and you glowed from inside out. You were beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed watching you and your family . You were colourful. Your passing hurt me so bad and I asked our father questions. But to be absent from the body , is to be present with Christ. I hope you are at peace , whole and healthy . I pray that for the tough days and years ahead , your family will remain covered and God will remain by them . Rest now Queen. Idara
