Donald Lee Mitchell

May 15, 1958 ~ July 3, 2018

Donald Lee Mitchell “Mitch” was born May 15, 1958, and entered heaven on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 after a brief illness. He was the oldest son of Roy Jack, Sr. and Doris L. Mitchell. He proudly served in the Marine Corps as Lance Corporal where he earned the Rifle Marksmanship Badge. He was injured while stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He worked hard installing fire sprinkler systems and took pride in the fact that he was doing his part to save lives. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle. He was an avid Braves fan and enjoyed watching wrestling with his friends and family. He had a very special gift of working with children and animals. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Fran and his parents. He leaves behind his much-loved furry sidekick, Sasha and step-son Derek Standridge. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters, Debra (Steve) Dale, Diane Mitchell, and brother Roy, Jr. (Kristie) Mitchell, his favorite niece Carmen (Ryan) Simmons and their children Hunter and Harley, nephews Jonathan Jackson and Jeremy Mitchell. He also leaves behind a God given sister, Karmen (Donald) Tweed, several aunts and an uncle; along with a host of friends. He will be truly missed by all. A private family viewing will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 10:30 am at Southern Cremations & Funerals at Cheatham Hill, 1861 Dallas Highway SE, Marietta, GA, 30064.
