Alexandrea Marie Trout

October 14, 2010 ~ May 15, 2024

Alexandrea “Lexy” Marie Trout, born on October 14, 2010, took the hands of her angels and her Papa as they lead her to meet Jesus on May 15, 2024, at the age of 13, after a heroic battle with brain cancer. She passed peacefully while mommy held her and sang her favorite songs. Lexy will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her parents, Chris Trout and Tammy (Timothy Picha). Sisters; Abigail (Joshua Houze), Kaitlyn Trout, Gabrielle Harrell, and Haley Picha, brothers; James (Jessa) Trout, Michael Harrell, David (Abigail) Picha, Dylan Picha, and Sean (Jazyiah Mathis) Picha, bonus mom; Angel Harrell, grandmothers; Barbara Covington and Shelby Trout, and grandfathers; Lee (Betty) Picha and Maxwell Thomas Sandlin. Lexy is also leaving to cherish her memory her aunt; Sandy Carr, uncles; John (Donna) Covington, Thomas (Shannon) Covington, and Daniel Picha, nephew; Angel Picha, niece, Daisy Picha, cousins; Megan, Emma, Hunter, Tyler, and Skylar Covington, and Eli Carr. Also forever remembering Lexy is her best friend, Yazzy Brown. She is preceded in death by her grandfathers; Bill Covington and Donald Trout, grandmother; Beverly Sandlin, and her dog; Brutus, great grandparents; James and Dorothy Covington, Joe Murphey, Clifford and Virgie Wente, and Charles and Jessie Trout. Lexy had an unwavering love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and never doubted her faith. She asked Jesus into her heart in 2022 during Vacation Bible School alongside her sisters Abby and Katie and would proclaim her love for Him any chance she had. Her dream was to become a veterinarian and she had the biggest heart for animals, her favorite being the cheetah. She was a student at Palmer Middle School where she had just completed the 7th grade. Lexy played the French Horn and was quite talented as she placed 2nd chair in her middle school band. She loved anything purple and cheetah print. Lexy took up dancing when she was just a toddler with a sippy cup in her hand and a pacifier in her mouth. She danced competitively with her sisters for a year during elementary school. She loved going to the pool, fishing (playing with and handing out the worms to her Pops), White Water, and Six Flags. She loved the Mine Train and when she conquered the Mindbender, she was so proud of herself. Lexy loved her family and her pets and was a total “daddy’s girl”. Her favorite holiday was Halloween. Her adorable belly laughs, and infectious smile will be cherished in our hearts forever. Her beautiful soul will be forever missed. On January 1, 2020, our world took a very different direction when Lexy was taken to the emergency room due to headaches. Following an MRI the next day, we were told that she had brain cancer. Lexy was the bravest and strongest little girl and rarely complained about the treatments and surgeries she endured during her cancer journey, earning her the nickname, “Rockstar”. She beat her cancer twice before the final recurrence which took her from us very quickly. Her favorite Disney Princess was Tiana and we watched “The Princess and the Frog” as much as we could. We would make up different lyrics to “Almost There”, for each step of her journey. Lexy touched the lives of so many people including a young mom, Heather, who was inspired by her strength to endure radiation. Heather told Lexy that if she could do long radiation treatments, she wasn’t going to be scared to do them herself. The two became very good friends and are now dancing together in Heaven. She was well known in the CHOA cancer community, becoming the “face” to Pamela’s Proton Presents (a charity that provides gifts to children receiving radiation treatments for cancer) at Emory Proton Clinic in Atlanta. Lexy was the first hospice patient at Scottish Rite to have a Donor Honor Walk as we took her outside for a final time. Scottish Rite affectionately now calls it, "Lexy’s Walk" and has plans to make the walk more available to each terminal child. Lexy had the kindest heart and insisted on many selfless acts while on her journey. She would sign up for every research study that she was approached with. Before her doctor could even explain what the research was for, she would say, “where do I sign?” Lexy wanted to help cure cancer so that no other child would have to fight the horrible disease. As her last selfless act, Lexy became a brain and spinal cord donor. Her bravery was unmatched. Lexy was granted a trip to Disney from Make-A-Wish. Unfortunately, Lexy never had the chance to receive her wish as God had other plans to join Him in Heaven. We imagine that what she now sees is so much better than even the joy of Disney World. Where we understand that we will not have the chance to squeeze her and touch her beautiful, curly hair again in this life, we will have an eternity to live together in Paradise without the fear of cancer looming in the background. Knowing that her pain is now gone, and she can speak clearly again, gives comfort to all of us. Lexy’s family would like to give special thanks to her care team, Dr. Claire Mazewski, Dr. Gary Woods, and the entire inpatient and outpatient AFLAC Cancer staff at Scottish Rite, Dr. Andrew Reisner and his wonderful pediatric neurological staff at Scottish Rite, Dr. Bree Eaton and the Emory Proton Therapy staff, the Scottish Rite PICU staff, Dr. Cia Bishop and palliative care, Chaplain Bonnie, therapy dog Blanche and her friend Becky, Child Life at Emory and Scottish Rite, her physical therapist, the outpatient MRI staff at CHOA Town Center, and finally our favorite pediatrician, Dr. Dara Hosch. You gave us the most precious gift of 4 more amazing years with our Rockstar and we are forever grateful to all of you for your love, support, and compassion. Her family would also like to give special thanks to Vanette Pierce, Barbara Covington, Thomas Covington, and Angel Harrell for helping with her Celebration of Life.In lieu of flowers, that family asks that you make a donation in Lexy's honor to Make-A-Wish Georgia, CHOA AFLAC Center at Scottish Rite, or St. Jude’s Cancer Research Hospital. You can also donate “Buzzy’s”, in Lexy’s honor, to CHOA Scottish Rite and/or St. Jude’s.

  1. Tammy, you know I love you and am always near if you need me. We have worked side by side and I have witnessed the abundance of compassion you have shared for others. It is infinitely more difficult when its one of our own. Know that God’s grace already has wrapped around you and Lexy is safe in the arms of the Lord and your reunion will come.

    • Thank you Bob. You have been a great mentor and friend to me and I appreciate your love and support. I love you, my friend

  2. Whenever I would see Lexy and her sisters at work with Tammy, I knew all I had to do was walk into her office and I’d leave smiling, laughing, or usually both. She was a gentle soul who always struck me as wiser than her years.
May she rest in peace 💜

    • Thank you my sweet friend. Lexy always loved to see mommy’s work family. I appreciate your kind words.

  3. Mommy loves you my sweet, brave, Rockstar. I will miss you every single minute until the moment I can hold you in my arms again. Rest peacefully and have the sweetest dreams. And Rockstar, give Heaven some hell 💜.
