William Terry Barfield

July 21, 1950 ~ July 24, 2018

William Terry Barfield, son of the late Virgil and Nell Barfield, was born July 21, 1950. He went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, three days after his 68th birthday. Terry was born in Birmingham, Alabama and later moved to Macon, Georgia where he married the former Miss Dianne Bean; they shared and enjoyed 34 years of love, devotion and marriage, and had one son. He worked for the Caterpillar dealer Yancey Brothers in both the Macon and Atlanta offices. In 1989, he moved his family to the metro Atlanta area where he continued to work for Yancey Brothers and Poppa Johns Pizza. Terry was known for his many jokes and big smile. People who met Terry often left him saying “he was one of the nicest persons I have ever met.” Some of his favorite activities were being a little league coach, Alabama football - Roll Tide!, looking at Chevy trucks and old cars, and eating “great big” strawberry ice cream waffle cones while riding in the car with the windows rolled down, listening to loud rock ‘n roll music with his wife driving and free drifting through the curves on the back roads of Paulding County. Terry is survived by his wife, Dianne, their son Berry (Stephanie), “adopted son” Raven Martin, his brother Phillip Barfield, sister-in-law Mrs. Terry Lynn Barfield, nephews Jonathan and Stephen Barfield. He is also survived by loving in-laws and their many children. Terry is preceded in death by his father, Virgil Garrett Barfield, mother, Lonell Best, and brother Joe Barfield. His home going celebration will be held on Saturday, August 4th at Southern Cremations & Funerals at Cheatham Hill. Honorary pallbearers are Berry Barfield, Raven Martin, Stephen and Jonathan Barfield, Stephen Holcomb and Tony Black.

  3. Terry always had a joke to tell you. When we would see him in the street in our subdivision, he stopped whatever he was doing to tell a joke. Terry was a wonderful, kind person that you could not help but like him.. This world needs more Terry Barfields.

We will miss seeing your smiling face and your funny, sometimes dorky jokes.

You are pain free! Rest in peace dear friend.

  4. Dianne,
Terry’s service was perfect. Splendid, I am sure His Word and the words of your pastor Tom Tanner gave you much comfort. I know they did me. I was honored to be there,
God placed Terry in your path years ago, and I believe memories of the life and love you shared will bring you peace., God will do that for you.
John 13:33 ” In Him I will bring you peace”
We will stay in touch, but do not hesitate to call me for anything. Anything,
We can run your errands or WHATEVER together.

  5. The Leeds High School Class of 1968 was saddened to hear yesterday of Terry’s death. We knew that he was really sick the week of our 50th class reunion in June. We will miss his jokes, “pranks,” and laughter.

Our deepest sympathies to the family of our great classmate.

Iris Steeley Shipp and Don Shipp, B’ham, AL for the LHS Class of 1968.

  6. Terry and I graduated from Leeds High School
In 1968. He and I had the lead parts in the senior play
“The Far Off Hills”. The play cast had so much
fun. Terry kept all of us laughing and yes, he
always had a great big smile. If u ever met him
    U would never forget him.
    With condolences and respect,
    Paula Culp
