Azalee B. Brown, born on Juneteenth, June 19, 1941, in Lowndes County, Alabama, was the cherished daughter of the late Joe Samuel Brown and Julie Mae Williams Brown. She was a devoted member of Mt. Moriah #1 Baptist Church in Haynesville, Alabama, and a proud graduate of Lowndes County Training School (Central). After completing her education, she moved to Brooklyn, NY, where her journey in life blossomed.
In Brooklyn, Azalee met and married the love of her life, Kelly C. Brown (preceded in death). Together, they nurtured a beautiful, blended family. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her children: Michael (deceased), Crystal, and Reginald, as well as Jocelyn, Beverly A, Kelly, Curtis (deceased), Herbert (Darnell), and Thurman (Alfreda). Her family extends to three brothers, Joe S. Brown and the late William M. Brown and Eddie J. Brown, and two sisters Ora Bell Pledger (deceased), Ernestine Crum, as well as a beloved sister-in-law, Germaine Brown (William). Her Goddaughter Denise Chaplin also holds her in fond memory.
Azalee had a particularly special bond with her granddaughter Candace (Tevin), whom she lovingly raised in the home. She was also a doting grandmother to Sakeena, Curtis J.,Khalil, Kelly Ashley, Ava, Guy, and Joe C, and alongside a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
A devoted homemaker, Azalee poured her heart into raising her family. As her children grew, she began working at the iconic Abraham and Strauss Department Store. A woman of ambition, she and her husband also owned an apartment building, marking their steps into entrepreneurship. Upon relocating to Georgia, Azalee found a second family in her colleagues at Gwinnett Medical Center, where she worked for many years, always bringing joy and compassion to those around her.
Azalee had a deep connection with nature, spending hours tending to her garden and nurturing her beloved plants and flowers. She had a sharp mind and enjoyed engaging in thoughtful discussions about politics, often lighting up with the youthful energy she found in the company of young people. To many, she was affectionately known as "Mama Brown," a testament to her nurturing spirit and the warmth she radiated.

I would like to thank Mrs. Azalee for sharing her family (Crystal/Candace) with mine. Crystal is a sister in the Rodgers family and Mrs Azalee was present for every event through out the years, always sharing a beautiful bright smile and kind words.
This takes a very special person and we thank God for bringing her into our lives so many years ago.
Of all the special gifts in life however great or small, to have had Azalee as my cousin was the greatest gift of all.
May the winds of love blow softly and whisper in her ear ” I, love you and miss you and wish you were still here”.
Deep in my heart, her life is kept to love and cherish, not forget. No more tomorrows we can share but yesterdays are always there.
A silent thought, a secret tear will always keep her memory near.
In my heart forever.

Azalee my stepmom was kind ,sweet, and very knowledgeable about past and current family history. Her memory of things always amazed me. She will always be in my heart and she will be greatly missed. Love you Azalee.
I am thankful for Ms.Azalee’s kindness. In her last earthly residence, she was the “across the street” neighbor of my parents. My parents were the recipients of her caring interest in their welfare. The curbside conversations were a bright spot in their day. As I moved in to care for my parents, she and I would meet at the curb and she always inquired about them. Her smile was contagious and warming. I know she impacted a multitude of lives during her earthly journey. I am praying for family left behind as they navigate life without her physical presence.
Mommy, There are no words to express how I am feeling right now. All I can say is that you are my blueprint. I love you deeply and I will always speak your name. Job well done well, my beloved mother.

I remember mrs. Brown being one of the “Queen Mother’s” of 51street. Sharing her unselfishness and kindness. Being supportive of the “51st Tigers” little league baseball team. I want to thank you and your siblings for sharing mrs. Brown with us!
Mrs Brown, Azalea was a remarkable person. She was loving, kind, charitable… patient of my. She so organized, full of enthusiasm. God bless you and rest in peace,
Much love Denise
I have so many memories with this wonderful woman, who was also my aunt-in-law. We called each other outlaws because we felt more like outlaws to our sisters-in-law. We had so much in common, shared secrets, laughed together, partied together and just developed a bond that no one could break. She was the sweetest, nicest person I have ever met. I love you Azalee and I’m going to miss you terribly. So long for now my outlaw.❤️❤️❤️
