Betty Jean Raines

Mrs. Betty Jean Raines, 84, of Marietta passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at her home. The family will gather to receive friends in the Columbarium at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 12 noon. Funeral services for Mrs. Raines will begin at 2 p.m. in the Columbarium with a private interment in Cheatham Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Raines was born February 19, 1934 in LaGrange, Georgia to the late Levi Madison Norred and the late Ludie Mae Walker Norred. She had lived in Marietta for the past 53 years worked for C.W. Matthews Contracting Company for over 31 years. She had also lived in Clarksville, TN, Knob Noster, MO, and Savannah, GA. Mrs. Raines was the past Supreme Royal Matron of Supreme Council, Order of Amaranth; was an emeritus member and past Worthy Matron of Order of Eastern Star; past High Priestess of Ladies Oriental Shrine; and volunteered and worked in may projects to raise funds for Diabetes research. Her passions were reading, SHOPPING, working in her yard, sewing and traveling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Wendell Raines; brothers: Havard Norred, Harold Norred, James Norred, and Hollis Norred; sisters: Ada Ruth Hanners, Lucille Littlefield, Velma Lee Fortpier, and Maddie Lee Norred. She is survived by her husband, Delbert Raines of Marietta; a daughter, Marsha Weidinger of Acworth; a sons, Danny Raines of Marietta; a daughter-in-law, Gayla Raines of Charleston, SC; granddaughters, Amanda Raines of Marietta, GA and Kimberly Sims of Charleston, SC; a grandson, Jonathan (Bonnie) Raines of Marietta; 1 great-granddaughter; 1 great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
