Stanton Tower Clay

October 19, 1932 ~ December 14, 2024

Stanton Tower ClayOctober 19, 1932-December 14, 2024 Stan Clay, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away on December 14, 2024, at the age of 92. Born in Denver, Colorado, Stan was an avid photographer, lifelong learner, a technology enthusiast, and a beloved figure in his community. After graduating from South High School, Stan pursued higher education at the University of Denver, where he studied Chemistry, Electrical Engineering and Mathematics. An avid photographer from an early age, he opened his own photo studio before moving into the corporate world where he worked as a photographic scientist, contributing to innovations in the field. Stan’s career took him and his family across the country. He met his wife, Mildred Morrison, in Denver, and were married for 62 years, raising four children along the way—twins Paul and Kathleen, followed by Diana and Barbara. His first job with GAF took them to Binghamton New York, then to Dallas, Texas and back to Binghamton. Stan was then recruited to be the Vice President of technical services for Ilford Inc. and the family moved to New Jersey. Stan often traveled to Europe on business and enjoyed hosting visiting European coworkers. Stan was then recruited to serve as the Vice President for Technical Services for Nimslo Corp. and the family moved to Atlanta. Always active in his church and community, Stan led mission work, taught computer and photography classes and delighted in spending time with his family. He had a lively sense of humor and was known as “Silly Grandpa.” Generous with his time and always eager to learn, Stan stayed up-to-date with the latest technology, assisting others with their computer troubles and Photoshop projects. Throughout his life, he won numerous awards for his photography and was actively involved in the Roswell Photography Club, his Mt. Pisgah Sunday School class, and The Optimist Club. Stan loved to read and learn and gave talks on many subjects. He was also known to be able to fix anything and would approach each project with a smile and the declaration, “Science Will Prevail.” Stan’s enduring curiosity, generosity, and sense of humor left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife Mildred, his four children—Paul (Marjorie), Kathleen (Mark), Diana (John), and Barbara (Michael)—eight grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. He will be remembered not only for his many achievements but also for his loving, humorous, and generous spirit. Services will be held at Mt Pisgah Church, 2800 Old Alabama Rd. Johns Creek, GA on February 1, 2025, at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Salvation Army.
