Joetta "Jo" Smith Jaeger

March 27, 1955 ~ November 12, 2018

Joetta "Jo" Smith Jaeger was called to Heaven suddenly while in her home on November 12, 2018. She was 63 years young. Jo was born in Oak Park, IL to the late Hubert "Herb" and Elizabeth Smith. After growing up in Illinois, she married young, joined the medical field and began a family. She moved to Marietta, GA in 1990 with her former spouse and 3 children. While living in Georgia, Jo traded in her medical gloves for a calculator and transitioned into the world of accounting. Jo loved her children and grandchildren more than anything in the world. It made her heart so happy to spend time with her family. She also enjoyed talking to her friends and family, reading, traveling and spending her Sundays cheering on the Chicago Bears. Even though Jo spent over 28 years living in Atlanta, her heart was always in her hometown of Chicago, IL. Jo will forever be remembered for her bubbly personality and warm hugs. There wasn't a person she wouldn't talk to and truly loved being around people and helping others. Jo was preceded in death by her father Herb Smith and her mother Elizabeth Smith. Jo is remembered with love by her daughter Gail Fuller (husband Scott) and her sons Tom Jaeger (wife Kim) and Chris Jaeger; her wonderful grandchildren; her brother Tom Smith; and her sisters Peggy Snyder and Susan Smith.

  1. Oh Jo……we just had a deep conversation on Friday and now you are gone. You have been weighing heavily on my mind. I will truly miss our conversations and knowing that you were always there to talk to……but I now know that you are at peace.

My thoughts and prayers go out to your family and friends for comfort and peace during this time.
I look forward to seeing you again my friend!!

  2. Jo you left us too soon. We were just getting into the fun of being in laws. Grand kids to spoil and watch grow up. Enjoying holidays together as part of our extended family as well as trips to the doctors and hospital. You always added fun to our adventures . We will miss you. Love Julia & John

  3. Jo will be missed by all who knew her. We worked together at Kemira and had many conversations and most of them were about our twin grandchildren. We both have a set of twin grandchildren and we loved sharing pictures. We could talk about them for hours …..I enjoyed sharing that with her so much..
Jo, may you Rest in Peace. Your Friend, Cheryl Turner
