Eudon was the best big brother any man could ever ask for. I will sorely miss our frequent visits, but I will carry with me each day the valuable gifts of love and guidance that he gave me from the very earliest of my years on this earth. Eudon is six years older than me, and this age difference can sometimes inhibit a sense of closeness between siblings. Not for Eudon and me. He would often relent (much to the chagrin of his friends) and let me tag along with him and his friends to various events, such as plundering creekbeds for crawfish, or picking blackberries at our favorite wild spot in the local woods, or pitching “skimmer” rocks into the gravel pit pond near Bull Creek or playing a game of pickup baseball in the open fields behind our house. He had a heart of gold. As far as guiding me by example, there are a few things I would mention. Eudon was a hard worker and decided he would earn his own spending money by getting a job in a local textile plant for the summer as soon as he reached the legal working age of 16. He even bought me my first brand new baseball glove with some of those earnings! Early on in his high school years, Eudon decided that he would go to college……a decision that made my parents very proud. I admired that, so I decided then and there that I would go to college. He decided to go to Georgia Tech, so I decided to go to Georgia Tech! He decided tp prepare to serve his country after college by joining the Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (ROTC) at Georgia Tech. So, I decided to join the ROTC program at Georgia Tech! ……and the list goes on of the things he did that I admired and respected and followed in his footsteps. He gave to me Love and Guidance by his exemplary everyday living. I will sorely miss him and always feel him in my heart.

I met Eudon through my history with his wife, Doe…she was the principal of Sequoyah High School, while all five of our children attended and graduated and also during my 8 year employment there. We were co-workers, but became close friends. When my husband retired, we moved to East Tennessee…Doe and Eudon would make day trips to visit and we’d always enjoy catching up, while sitting down to one of my husbands home cooked, country meals…Eudon always said Larry made THE BEST cornbread he ever ate! We loved his humor, his smile, laughter and wit! Always soft spoken and ready with interesting conversation, it was always such a treat to have them drive up! I’ll miss his hugs and I’ll miss his grin…but I won’t forget them…we love you, Doe and if you ever need anything, you never have to ask us twice…prayers for you, your family and the countless others that love him!
My Big Brother …… Eudon (“Eudie” – as I called him in our childhood ) was always someone I looked up to and not just because of his height . The way he conducted himself in life starting when we were children set a great example for me . He had a great sense of humor of the “dry wit ” type and could could offer some of the funniest comments after sitting quietly behind his smile when you might not think he was even paying attention to the conversation around him.
His curiosity about things around him started in his younger days. Once when he was around ten or so, my parents walked into our living room to find him surrounded by the phone ( taken apart ). He said , ” I just wanted to know how it works —– Don’t worry , I can put it back together …… and , he did. (Georgia Tech. was destined to be in his future)
He was a year ahead of me in school ( born 15 months before me , we were practically twins). In high school , all my teachers said on my first day in their class each year ” Oh, you’re Eudon’s sister ? I hope you’re as good a student as he is” . The bar was set.
Eudon was a genuinely good person and I’m glad he was my brother. I’m also glad he found you ,Doe. I could always see in his face how he loved you.
His spirit will always be with us.
I love you ” Eudie ”

Eudon and I were Technical Sales associates at C. H. Patrick and CO. I was fortunate to have been his friend and pick his brain on sales techniques. He had an amazing sales record and was highly respected by his customers. I could only beat him on the golf course. My condolences to his family.
