Fannie Lue Starks

October 16, 1928 ~ December 24, 2018

Mrs. Fannie Lue (Isabel) Starks was given her wings of flight on the morning of December 24, 2018 and set- off on her final journey to join the company of saints who proceeded her and to bask permanently in the presence of the Lord. She was born on October 16, 1928 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Bishop Beverly Isabel and Fannie Lue Wilford Isabel. In addition to her parents who proceeded her in death, her husband Archie M. Starks, Sr., her sister Clora Mae Simmons, son, Kevin G. Starks, and her aunt, Mrs. Dorothy Starks. Mother Starks is survived by one sister, Sara Isabel (St. Paul, MN), 2 daughters, Lorraine Starks Moses (Powder Springs, GA) and Carolyn Starks Glenn (Roswell, GA), 3 sons, Archie Starks, Jr (Powder Springs, GA), Dwayne A. Starks and Brian Starks (St. Paul, MN). Her 16 grandchildren, Britney Starks, Ashley Starks (St. Paul, MN), Lekeisha Gamble Jones (Atlanta, GA), Marcus C. Gamble (Atlanta, GA), Micah K. Gamble (Eagan, MN), Matthew L. Gamble, Brooklyn, NY and Nathaniel A. Gamble (Atlanta, GA). Her 8 great-grandchildren, Amari Gamble, Micah K. Gamble, Jr. and Elijah Gamble, Briyon Starks and Chaka Edmonds Jr., all from the Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN area. Mother Starks was saved at the tender young age of 9 years old during a prayer meeting in her parent’s home. She was a member of Homeland Church of God in Christ, Memphis, TN until her family relocated to St. Paul, MN in 1942. She attended Maxfield Elementary, Marshall Jr. High and Mechanics Arts High School in St. Paul, MN. Mother Starks and her sisters, Sara and Clora were active in the choir and they also sang in the COGIC Holy Convocation Mass Choir for many years. It was during a trip to the Holy Convocation in 1951, that Mother Starks met her future husband, Archie Starks, Sr., who was invited to relocate up to Minnesota by his future father-in-law, Elder Isabel. In 1953, she married Archie M. Starks, Sr. and started a family shortly thereafter. Their union remained until his death on September 26, 2006. After relocating to Minnesota, her father Elder Beverly Isabel started pastoring, Peace Church of God in Christ in St. Paul and remained there until he was injured in a car accident in 1966. She then followed her husband to become a member of the Rock Temple Church of God in Christ, St. Paul, MN pastored by her brother-in-law, Elder Artis W. Starks. After many years of serving faithfully at Rock Temple, she joined her daughter and become a member of Star of Bethlehem COGIC also in St. Paul until she relocated to the Atlanta, GA area in 2009. Two of Mother Starks favorite hymns were “Oh I Want to See Him” and “Never Grow Old.”
