Leah Jean Haines

June 7, 1928 ~ January 4, 2019

Obituary for Leah Jean (Jeannie) Haines 7 June, 1928 – 4 January, 2019 Leah Jean, known to many as ‘Jeannie’, lived a full and lovely life of giving, music, and self-sacrifice for the sake of others. Leah is predeceased by her parents, Rev. Archie and Rev. Ruth Crockett; husband, Bernard; and daughter, Terri. She is survived by her son, John; grandsons, Josh and Zach Reed; and great-grandchildren, Rachel, Elijah, and Samuel. Leah was born in Urbana, Ohio. She studied piano from the age of six and throughout college, and taught piano into her early 80’s. She loved her students, and delighted to hear them perform at recitals. She shared music with so many: accompanied the Lockheed Glee Club, played for Billy Graham Crusades in Atlanta, started the Share Teen Choir and organized tours with this choir for many years. Music, joy, passion, and faithfulness are all part of her legacy. Those influenced by her holy life will attest to the treasure she was while she walked with us. We celebrate her life. We celebrate with the hosts of heaven in her safe arrival home! Visitation will be held from 1:30-3:00 pm on Sunday, 6 January, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 pm at the Marietta First Church of the Nazarene, 4341 Dallas Highway, Marietta, GA 30064. The graveside ceremony will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, 7 January at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park, 1861 Dallas Highway SW, Marietta, GA 30064. In lieu of flowers, loving donations may be made through the Marietta First Church of the Nazarene, to assist with funeral costs.

  1. I worked with Jeannie at Lockeed Credit Union for 25 years. She was a beautiful lady, inside and out. Jeannie was a very dear friend and I will miss her very much. Your pain is over now and you are in heaven with GOD. RIP my friend, I love you.

  2. I worked with Jeannie only a few years before she retired from the credit union. What I remember most was how much she was her own person. Kind, honest and stood up for what she believed. She was admired and respected by everyone and she will long be remembered by us who knew her. Thank you for your light Jeannie.
