It is with great sadness that the family of James (Jay) Lamar Willoughby announce his passing on Friday, February 1st, 2019 at the age of 81.
A native of Austell, Georgia, Jay was born on August 21st, 1937 and the youngest of 11 children of Charlie Calhoun and Janie Waits Willoughby. Jay ran his concrete finishing company, JW Construction, for 20 years before retiring in 2000. He had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, and tinkering on old cars.
Jay is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Janet Stalcup Willoughby. They were married in Clarkdale on December 25th, 1976.
Jay will be missed dearly by his children and stepchildren Cathy Wiley and her husband, David, of Dallas, Georgia; his son Jeff Willoughby and his wife, Nora of Register, Georgia; Nancy Martin of Monroe, Georgia; Jason Willoughby and his wife Stacy of Peachtree Corners, Georgia; James Rigdon and his wife, Kim of Barnesville, Georgia; and Jeff Rigdon and his wife, Sherri of Dallas, Georgia. His 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren will miss their Papa, especially Kayleigh Rigdon who shared his home for the past 12 years. He is also survived by his beautiful sister, Sarah Pitts of Lithia Springs, Georgia and brother Bobby Willoughby of Dallas, Georgia and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Fullturn Church, 298 Reynolds Road, Hiram, Georgia 30141 on February 23, 2019 at 4:00 pm.
