Teresa Elaine (Troglin) Burger (58yo) went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 27, 2025. Teresa was born at Crawford W. Long Hospital (now Emory Midtown) in Atlanta, Georgia to Ernest Vinson Troglin and Martha Carlin Pierce on October 10, 1966. Teresa grew up with her parents in Cherokee County, Georgia and graduated from Etowah High School in 1985. Throughout her childhood she enjoyed family trips to Disney and took up baton where she loved practicing and performing. She also enjoyed learning how to roller skate with her Mom and spending many days / nights at the skating rink as well as fishing with her Daddy. She also took such pride in the fact that she helped provide care for her Grandpa Pierce until his final days.
Teresa was a homemaker and caregiver raising her three children throughout her life. She was also a very talented artist in many capacities. She shared her talents by painting canvases, saw blades, and later becoming a tattoo artist. She also taught herself to sew and became a seamstress creating beautiful antebellum styled era attire for her family’s reenactments, Halloween costumes, and sewing anything her children requested of her. Teresa was an avid Civil War period Reenactor and often traveled with her family to reenact different battles and participate in educating others about the era until her health declined. After that, she would ensure that her husband and son were ready before each reenactment as they continued to carry on the family tradition.
Teresa was so proud and excited to become a Memaw and was a wonderful grandmother to her three grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them, celebrating them and their accomplishments, playing dress up, coloring, and video chatting with them. She was also a great friend who always took the time out of her day to check in on her friends and family for their latest updates, as well as being there for them through their hardest and best parts of their lives.
Teresa is preceded in death by her Father; her grandparents Carl W. & Icie H. Pierce and Charles E. & Berla L. Troglin. Teresa is survived by her Mother; her husband of almost 35 years Mark Vance Burger; her children, Chelsea (Clayton) Gibson, Devon (Luis Sanchez) Burger, and Dakota Burger; grandchildren, Cordelia Gibson, Chandler Gibson and Cecilia Gibson as well as many special cousins and extended family.
Her family asks that in the coming days/weeks/months you continue to keep them in your prayers. However, they find solace in the fact that Teresa knew that she had felt God’s arms around her, heard his words, and saw God’s work in her life. She often spoke about how God had embraced her through three different comas, held her life in his hands and still chose to return her to those who loved and needed her the most here on Earth. Although this time she is gone to be with the Lord, we are so thankful that she is no longer in any pain, restricted due to having to carry around an oxygen tank, and can finally have her health restored while walking through Heaven with all those who were there to greet her on the other side.
The loss of Teresa has severely impacted and devastated her family. They would ask that if anyone would like to assist them through this transition of loss that they donate through the GoFundMe (https://gofund.me/3d12a481), Devon’s CashApp ($ClutteredBookshelves), Devon’s Venmo (@ClutteredBookshelves), Dakota’s CashApp ($DakotaBurger1305), or Dakota’s Zelle and know that all donations and prayers are greatly appreciated to assist with the funeral service, inurnment, medical expenses, and more.
A visitation and funeral service will be held at Southern Cremations & Funerals at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park located at 1861 Dallas Highway, Marietta, Georgia 30064 in the Columbarium on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Following her service, Teresa will be cremated and at a later time inurned at the Sunrise Memorial Gardens located at 1440 West Church Street, Jasper, Georgia 30143 next to her Father and other family.
