Marietta Southern Cremations & Funerals
Sherry Faye Rawson, 58, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Emory University Hospital surrounded by her son, son-in-law, and a special friend of their immediate family (Kasey Kelley). She was born on August 17, 1960, to Lewis Warren Rawson and then Bonnie Faye Rawson of Kilmichael, MS.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Faye Mathis; her father, Lewis Rawson; and both her paternal and maternal grandparents. She was survived by her only child and son-in-law, Trent Mathis-Durham and Corey Durham; her 2 beautiful grandchildren, Chaniya Lashun Durham and Tristan Lamar Warren Durham; her only biological brother, Kenneth Warren Rawson; and a host of friends and family that loved her dearly. She had a very special relationship with her Aunt Donna Merl Ward and her first cousin Peggy Carter Sharp. Prior to Sherry relocating to Atlanta, GA, in 2012, she had many friends that helped her along the way during some of her most trying times (Betty Grice, Ms. Joyce, William Leslie Thompson and his late mother Janie Thompson, Lauren Herbert, CJ Johnston, the late Donna Brooks, and a few more along the way). She relocated to be with her son and son-in-law in order to rebuild a relationship with her son and to seek better medical treatment. While living in Atlanta, she was able to meet and bond with several people that became like family to her and would be a crucial part in her daily routines as her health began to decline. During her final days, one of those people, Tavrus “Bucket” Tucker was instrumental in her care.
Sherry was excited about getting her life back on track with God and thanked him daily for both her challenges and successes. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, watching sports, and enjoying the outdoors. She was able to finally find peace within herself and understood that life was more about the wins and less about the defeats.
A memorial service for her and all those who want to celebrate her life will be held in Mississippi on a later date.

I am so sorry Trent and Ken on the loss of a mother and a sister.
